it would not be a January closure. Summer 2008 at the earliest. I think it was the barrel of rum that got the "source" confused. Happens to the best of us.

Not to mention it would be the height of professional stupidity to release Peter Pan from the vault and then close down the attraction...and IASM will continue to be around, despite the song driving people insane!
It wouldn't be the first time. When Disney chose to make the mistake of turning the Country Bears into a movie, they also chose to close the Disneyland version of it just months before the film premiered. Talk about your intelligent promotions.
And after probably thousands of rides and plays on the CD player, I have yet to get sick of It's a Small World. I may be the only one, but I doubt I'll ever tire of it. As for its "closing," I'm going to refer to my posts in the Peter Pan thread...

I think you've mixed up your rumours. They are moving the sign, but over to the studios where it will go next to the hat and 'Epcot' will be replaced with a film strip saying 'DISNEY/PIXAR studios' hanging over the hat.
It will be the ultimate Disney park icon.

Well, if it's any consolation my source tells me that the existing Mickey hand next to the hat will also be holding an inflatable candle. An inflatable pink candle.

the refurb was extensively dull. they put some "fancy" new fiberoptic lighting but they still have that crappy song lol. That wouldve been the first thing to go if i had my way... jk

Seriously, why do some people feel it's necessary to make fun of people when they ask a question. If I heard or read something about an attraction going down I would ask other people what they had heard about it. It is a shame when a person comes here, and ask a legitimate question that he is all of a sudden a troll or some one to be laughed at. I don't know if any of you are privy to the extensive refurbishment program that WDW is starting, I know I am not. I can say that IASW came out of very long refurbishment not to long ago, so it would seem unlikely that it will undergo another one lasting a whole year. IASW still has some issues that need to be addressed, but I don't think it would take a year to fix everything. Folks you all really need to start lightening up on posters. If a person is obnoxious or just generally trying to be offensive or consistently starts bad rumors I could understand those kinds of post. Asking a question about a ride closure does not fit those kind of post that deserve attacking. That is just my opinion.
