Is it worth it or should we wait...

I say you should go in November! Life is too short, if you can afford a trip and you and your partner are thrilled to go, then do it! DH and I are in our mid-thirties and we recently lost 2 friends around our ages to cancer... Made us realize that you can't push back the things you really want to do! We already went to WDW in November 2016, but I managed to convince DH to go back this August (with our 5 years old son's help!;)), and he managed to convince me to stay at a deluxe resort for the first time!!! :inlove:

I'm 36 and lost 4 high school classmates within the last year - cancer, heart, pancreatitis, and suicide. It really does change your way of thinking when that happens.

Only you can decide if it's worth it. The changes listed are probably not reason enough to make the trip with so much on the horizon. That being said, I do have really high hopes for Avatar. It fills a void that was left in the original AK development in the late 90's. I do see some wisdom as someone suggested in going to DL Paris. That would probably be a much cheaper trip and save your money for all the big changes coming in the not too distant future.

Some people say they feel as if it is too much, but we moved here to be at Disney. We go twice a week every week and still haven't tired of it. Sometimes the people get on our nerves, but I'm sure I also get on their nerves prattling on about Disney history. If you and your partner really enjoy Disney and it a special place, you should come and enjoy it. You only get so many days to do those things, and it's not any fun to regret having not done something.

I second the holidays - absolutely magical. If you love Disney, and you love Christmas, it's the right time (if you can afford it!). I don't think they start decorating the resorts until mid-November, though. Do some research to decide, so you can see all the things that are important to you.

I say go in Nov! We've booked for next August with a plan to go every 2 years with our children but with 2020 being the year before the 50th we may wait 3 years as I'm a bit worried that for 2020 there will be loads of refurbs going on.

Honestly, the last time we went down to WDW (we're hitting DL in 90 days or so...) there was so much construction crap going on, that it didn't spoil the trip, but it was distracting...(this was 2015). We wound up skipping DHS altogether and Disney Springs was a mess of cranes, re-bar, fill dirt, and a maze of walls... and there's a lot of things still in flux now...Star Wars and Toy Story won't be ready for a couple-three years and MK is paradelss atm...

Though admittedly, Pandora will be open soon...and Animal Kingdom should feel a little more "complete"...

Any trip down there is worth it...but the real question (to me) is will you feel slighted or annoyed in any way by all of the stuff going on? If you have kids (like we did then and do) it might not hurt to wait... but if you don't and just don't care...then go for it...you'll still have fun.

Good luck!

Have visited the The World 12-15 times over my 32 years and counting life span. Last visited May 2016 with my partner & had an amazing time as always. We did say though that due to the high costs of a Disney trip & curiosity of exploring other countries / cultures we would not return for another 3 years or so..

Yet last night we had the 'are you missing it too?' discussion and quickly & excitedly began planning a trip for November this year, financial calculators in tow!

But I'm wondering if we are just getting carried away with the idea and whether it is best waiting another couple of years as originally planned?

Has anything significant changed from May last year to November this year that warrants a 'must do' trip?

Disney is like a drug. But for us Brits it's more than just Disney - it's the amazing weather & food that makes us crave it all the more! Not to mention the shopping too!

Grateful for your thoughts / opinions
I think you guys should come back in November. There is a lot going on at AK right now and the park is spectacular at night. Plus some of the Holiday happenings begin in November and the temperature is warm but much less humid(usually). Let us know when you guys come back and maybe the 4 of us can hang. We love meeting other Disney couples!
