Is it true that Liberty Tree Tavern will no longer have characters?

I read awhile ago that the Liberty Tree Tavern will lose its characters at dinner starting in January. But then I read rumors that they cancelled this decision and the characters will remain.

Whats the latest?

Yes, the characters will be gone as of January 4 or 5 (can't remember exact date).
