Is it true or a myth now that Disney is the happiest place on earth?

I visit the parks often and on occasion I do see some happy faces but for the most part I see dads with pusses on their faces and moms trying to mange crying children, teenage kids looking into cell phone looking like they are there against their will. they don't seem to be very happy. Now I have to admit last night I was on the monorail and I saw a child about four years old who was just beaming from ear to ear. I said to my wife now that is what Walt was trying to accomplish. Anyone have any happiest place on earth story's?

Was like this in the 70's minus the mobile phones I'm afraid. Listening to parents screaming "If you don't shut up and enjoy yourself I'll give you such a hiding when we get home" in the parks has been an experience to savor throughout my life :D

Don't want to be intrusive, but do you have kids? Before kids, I thought: why are kids crying/why ar adults miserable/etc. at the happiest place on earth? I certainly am ecstatic when at WDW, but, as I have learned, kids are sometimes unpredictable. Sometimes, that unpredictable behavior turns into a child that's inconsolable, no matter what. I may not be yelling at my child, but, my face probably says it all: i'm flustered and maybe even crying on the inside. So, as magical as I would love it to be at all times for me and my kids, it sometimes isn't in the cards that day. And, I can understand that look I see on a parents' face when they are trying hard to mend the situation. It happens-sorry if I'm one of those moms you mentioned but I promise, it certainly won't ruin your day. And tomorrow, is just another and probably better day!

To be honest, I don't for one second he was even thinking about you when he posted that :D

We are going with DS4 for his first visit in May, and while I'm certain we will get more than one fit during the week, it will truly be the happiest place on earth when I get to see him smiling ear to hear with his eyes wide open when he sees the parks and gets to meet his favourite characters. That reaction will also be worth all the money is costs to be there :)

Idk, I usually see happy people. I love being on a flight back home to Orlando and the people excited about their magic bands and characters. I think for the overwhelming majority, all are happy but as the vacation wares on it turns into sadness or irritation. Disney is what you make of it. We know it's nothing like the commercials but if you plan right, it can be the greatest vacation ever.

Our family has never had a sad or unhappy moment while visiting. What others do with their children or their emotional outbursts in public are not our concern. I do feel sorry for those who aren't having the enjoyment we are having but thats out of my control. Disney continues to be the HPoE for me and my family, and I'm glad my DW and DS have had only happy memories. I don't let others behaviors, antics, complaints tarnish my pleasure and the enjoyment that Disney give me or allow it to affect my trips. Still remains a destination that I will save and plan for as long as I can.

:banghead: Of course not. I meant I'm the representative "mom" thats handling an inconsolable child:

My point is: it happens. You may catch a person at a down moment, but that doesn't mean that their trip has lost all of its magic.

It's a PR tagline for Disneyland....

Tee hee! And it's been Disneyland's tagline since before the park opened in July, 1955, in printed and televised formats. From a series of newspaper ads from 1959...

A more accurate title for this thread would be "Is it true that Disney World is the Vacation Kingdom of the World?" Or, more recently "Is it true that Disney World is Where Dreams Come True?"

Eh, I remember similar scenes from the 1980's at WDW. And similar scenes at Disneyland from the 1970's. The only thing that's changed is that teens, and adults, stare at their phones with bad posture and blank expressions in the middle of it all today.

Today was especially bad, it's like Disney didn't even try this year with F&G. Tons of disappointed people, screaming kids, definitely not magical.

I was about to chime in with a remark regarding Disneyland in happy Southern California...but I see other friends have already beaten me to it.

OH wel...I'll say what if was going to say anyway.

It is Disneyland out in sunny California that is the TRUE 'Happiest Place On Earth'.
Unless you are a puppeteer....then it's not so happy.

I personally think that area of Orlando, but mainly Disneyworld and Universal Studios, is one of the most exciting places you can go for a full on, frantic, entertaining next level experience.

Disneyworld wins for immersion and just being on Disney property makes me feel different. I relax, I look at the bright side of life, I laugh a lot more and I'm genuinely in a great place in my mind. It helps that the weather is usually stunning and it is totally different from Manchester in the UK. We have great music and food, but that level of park, including size and technology, will never hit the UK! We might one day get kinda close, but it isn't the same.
