Have not been to DW since I think 2009... is it harder to get adrs now than before? Last time we were able to get be our guest, chef mickeys. Honestly whatever we wanted we got. This time, we’re like 70 something days away & I can’t find anything I want. I would of thought with having to give your cc info now to make a reservation that it would be easier not harder.

Attendance is higher than in 2009 and promotions such as Free Dining and Play, Stay and Dine have helped fill the restaurants.

Pretty sure 70 days from now is smack dab in the middle of a free dining promotion, so that will make the most popular restaurants even harder to get, even if WDW isn't as necessarily as busy then as it is now, being that school will be back in session by then.

I booked right at the 180-day mark and while I got everything I was hoping to get, I didn't necessarily get the times I wanted to get because some restaurants were just that popular. Example, I got ADR for Be Our Guest, but for 4:30 as opposed to 5:30 or 6.

BTW, Be Our Guest opened in 2012 so you've forgotten an entire trip!

I guess you’re right. It’s been a while. I think we went right when it had just opened. I remember they had the a “grey stuff” cupcake & it was delicious to me lol.
I’m hoping something will open up.

I was hoping by the time we get there the free dining crowd wouldn’t be much since I think 9/30 is the last day. guess i was wrong lol

Some of the more popular restaurants are very difficult to get. I suggest you go ahead and make ADRs for what you think you might want to do on any given day, and then if you change your mind cancel at least 24hrs ahead to avoid charges and to let someone else grab that time slot. If you don't make ADRs you may be disappointed in what you can get at the last minute.

Why is October busy? I don’t get it.

It really has been a long time since you were last there, hasn't it? The first week of October will see carry-over of Free Dining guests who began their vacation on or just before Sept 30. There are some school districts that have a fall break in Oct. The F&W Festival, which has become incredibly popular, will have been in full swing for over a month. Then there is the MNSSHP, which also draws crowds. A complicating factor with the Halloween parties is that they close the park to non ticket holders after 6:00, greatly reducing ADR availability on those days.

It's been a fact of life for many years that if you really want to eat at a specific restaurant, and especially if it's a popular place like BOG or Ohana, you need to get you ADR as far in advance as possible. Only 70 days out? All you can do is haunt the reservations pages and hope for cancellations. Or try the TouringPlans reservation finder.

We’re mostly doing quick service. I just wanted a couple of adr meals but they’re not available 😞. If we can’t get those then it’ll prob be just counter meals for us. We’re not there long so we’re makimg the most of our time.

That's an amazing trick that you were able to get a reservation to Be Our Guest in 2009 when the restaurant did not even open until late 2012. Disney truly is magical!

You know what’s an amazing trick? Not being a sarcastic jerk.
I obviously got my dates wrong as I pointed out in this same thread. I guess it was 2012. I thought it was longer.

I was in WDW last August and booked the trip somewhat last minute. I looked for a Be Our Guest reservation for one of my 2 MK days but there was no availability. I kept looking and ended up finding an ADR 29 days before my trip. If it's worth the effort for you I would recommend not giving up!

Thanks, I’m not giving up hope. Honestly the food was alright at best but we’re taking a first timer with us & Belle is her favorite so I was hoping we’d be able to do a meal there.

So generally we don't have too much of a hard time getting adr's but there are a few caveats.

1) we try not to eat a popular grazing hours. 6 pm and the pillaging hordes are all eating. move your time up or back an hour and things open up.
2) We tend to like resort Table services much more than the park offerings, except for maybe Epcot. they also tend to be a lot easier to get.

Enjoy

I don’t know your party size but a few Oct trips ago(2015) when I traveled with a group of 6, I was unable to get a BOG adr. I split the party into 3 groups of 2 and was then able to schedule all 3 around the same time. They were able to put 2 of the groups together at check in. Last Oct I was again not able to schedule BOG until they opened it up to adrs during party nights.
