Is Fantasmic back to 100 percent?

I thought I read a trip report a little while back where they said that the boat was missing from Fantasmic and that the characters came out from behind the mountain instead of on the boat at the end.

Was this just something that has been fixed or was this a permanent cost cutting measure?

Also.. I'm trying to plan my vacation for March 2009 and I'm having trouble with the Fantasmic night in general. With Fantasmic only being 3 nights a week, how crowded do you think its going to be to get into the theater on those nights? When Fantasmic was being hosted every night you had to get there like an hour early to get a good seat.. now thats being cut down to just 3 nights, do you think its just going to be such a madhouse that we should avoid it?

I have no clue about the 2nd question, but the boat was in the show on the December 16th.

The best advice that I could give you now that Fantasmic is down to 3 nights per week is to get the Fantasmic Dining package. This will guarantee you a seat in the theater and avoid the inevitable hour plus wait that is going to occur due to Fantasmic's reduced showings. From what I remember it is not much more expensive than dinner itself and will save you a good bit of time and aggravation.

The no-boat is used for technical reasons when Steamboat Willy is unavailable. It can happen any night unnanounced.

Yoda; the Fant! dinner package - are the reserved seats still on the far side of the amiptheatre? That`s what put me off going for the package.

As far as I know, yes. THey are definitely not the best seats in the house....especially if they stick you in the farthest seat to the right. However, now that Fantasmic's performances have been cut by more than half it is pretty safe to assume that the crowd situation will only get worse. For my money I would much rather have a not so great seat with minimal wait than no seat with an hour and a half wait. It would also not surprise me if they increased the number of seats available to the Fantasmic dining package in the near future.

The reserved Fantasmic dinner package seats aren't that bad at all. We did the package on Dec. 19th and were about in the middle of the far right section. Walking in 20 minutes before the start of the show and having a seat versus lining up 90 minutes before and hoping for the best was very worth it.

The Steamboat was down for a week or two the middle of September. It was out for regular maintenance. I started working in costuming at Fantasmic the day after the Steamboat was back in the show & it has been in the show every night that I have worked there the past almost 4 months.

I am working at Fantasmic both nights the show is being shown next week. I am hoping that I will be on one of the tracks that will let me see how full the theater is. I will let you know how full the theater is looking & how quickly it seems to be getting that way. (The first time I can see the theater is about 30 minutes before the show & then again while the Steamboat is going around the island.)

I hope this helps.

While like most I think its a shame the schedule was cut back, I don't think it will have a huge effect on the crowd or the wait for the show. I believe most guests to WDW are not super educated about things like schedules. People go to the attractions that are offered. The park itself may be a bit busier on Fantasmic! performance days because those who see Fantasmic! as a destination unto itself will choose that day to go to DHS, but I dont think thats a huge number. Most guests will pick which park they are in the mood to go to that day and see what is offered. Some repeat customers not in the know who find out there is no show when they get there might be a little peaved, but many 1st time guests will just see a small sign out front saying no performance today. Just another example of paying more less because Mickey can get away with it.

I did the dinner package for Fantasmic this past summer. We got the 3rd row all the way to the right. I liked the seats, also it was MUCH easier to get out after the show than sitting with everyone else.

Expect Fantasmic to be very crowded when it starts playing 2 nights a week. Crowds can be massive on nights when it played 7 nights a week so you can imagine how it will be only playing a couple nights. I would definitely suggest getting there earlier than usual if you want a good seat.

I am not exactly looking forward to it. I hope it blows up in Disney's face.

The Steamboat was working two weeks ago, so I think you're fine on that front.

As for crowds, good question. I was there in mid-December, and we arrived at the show 40 minutes before starting time on a night when there was only one show. We had no problems getting in, and people arriving 15 minutes after us also got seats. The Dinner Package guests were on the far right as you face the "stage".

2 nights a week could cause real crowding problems. Still, I think showing up 50-60 minutes beforehand will turn out OK, because I just don't think that many people will think to show up earlier.

Nothing can ever be 100% perfect...Any show can have a flaw, fluke, burnout, mechanical problem, sick performer, drained lake, refurb, rehab, stubbed toe, strike and other who-ha that happens...My advice is to just enjoy it and not be to worried about it..like they say..."The Show Must Go On!"
