Is Disneyland heading for a major tragedy?

This is why I would never go ziplining in a foreign country. You have no clue how well maintained everything is or if they guy that doesn't speak English knows what he is doing.
We were in Maui and they seemed like a very reputable company, the rest of the zipline tour was fantastic and professional but all it takes is one or two employees forgetting to double check someone being strapped in to be fatal. I always double check things like that, even when I do it myself, to reassure myself. I do agree with you, though, if I don't feel 100% confident somewhere I am not going to zipline there.

The tragedy may not be simply a faulty ride this time, but quite possibly an act of malice from agitators who seek revenge on Disney for something they did. There are a LOT of people angry at Disney, especially the parks, nowadays. Even the Disney family have split from the company since Diane’s death.

So, terrorism? Probably less likely than anything Disney would cause through its own cutting of corners, weird members of various cults and literal Nazis who apparently have nothing to do with their lives other than stand outside WDW with signs notwithstanding.

I would like to believe that even with plenty of people angry with Disney for reasons both legitimate and stupid, and plenty of incompetence from those whose job is at least theoretically to hold potential attackers accountable, there's no way a person who tried to do such a thing would get away with it for any extended period of time. There's an above average chance that such activities would be extensively traced through Disney's own cameras or those in the pockets of 90% of their guests at any given time. Even with such levels of anger that some people are directing towards the company, I don't think most people would seriously consider going after Disney in such a way. Were they to do so, I could see a lot of people angry at Disney right now swing right back to Disney's corner should such an attack occur.

The Disney family hasn't really been involved with the company since Eisner took over (the ousted Ron Miller being Diane's husband). I'm sure they're not crazy about what the Disney company has done, but seeing as they've been, sad to say, basically irrelevant since the early 80s to what the company has been doing, I'm not sure why they're really coming into this. The only one who was really involved since then was Roy E, who's gone. Abigail Disney, Roy E.'s daughter, certainly likes to share opinions about TWDC but has never been involved in any capacity with the company, and I don't see any evidence that her views would go and encourage people to go and do a terrorism because of it. So sure, the Disney family may not like what Disney does. Plenty of people don't. But they're not exactly relevant to the actual running of the company today, and with few exceptions haven't been for longer than I've been alive.

Is there a way to totally prevent such a thing from ever happening? Probably not. But is there any real possibility of anything like that happening now? I'd give a definitive no.

Even after Roy’s death, the company would reach out to Diane for special features and such. Nothing whatsoever to the family nowadays.

Who would they have reached out to?

Ron was gone, Sharon was gone, Lillian long gone. Who else was ever involved on any real level in the company or in preserving the legacy of Walt Disney?

I said that they were reaching out to Diane, most notably on the Jungle Book Diamond Edition release.

Right, but Diane is gone too and has been for what will soon be a decade.

If there's someone else specific to reach out to in the Disney family (something that does not appear obvious to me), who would it be?

And even if they did, there gets to be a point where you lose the personal connection. You're not working with Walt's daughter or his nephew anymore, but with his distant cousin or his grandson or something farther removed. Walt's oldest grandchild was barely in the double digits when he died, and so far as I know never worked with the company. Is there anyone better? It's unclear if there is.

There's no one else obvious in the family to turn to, no one else with as close or as personal a connection to Walt or Roy, and even if there was, would the public care? It's not clear to me that they would, or that the company would want to court such a relationship in any case.
