both the DIS, WDWMagic, and others (Talkdisney, Disneycentral, etc) all use the same software to generate the forums.

Ahhh. There are a few different software packages that allow websites to provide forums for their users. While they are somewhat customizable, they usually are similar in appearance.

In this case, both of the sites use a very popular package called vBulletin. Essentially, this provides the framework for the forum (also called discussion) areas of the sites. Aside from that, the content and users are totally different.

Hope this helped.. :)

May look the same but totally different. If you look, wdwinfo has approximately 60k members. The demographic is older on the site as well. More families, , etc. I post alot there, but more for information. WDWMagic is more personal and homey. I like the folks here better and have made a few connections. But everyone has their preferences...you'll have to decide for yourself.

the DIS scares me....

it's like the Sam's Club of Disney Sites... lots about everything to do with Disney... and nothing that I want (except when I posted the first description and pics of mission: space... all of a sudden my name was mentioned on every Disney site there was).

This is THE best Disney related website and message forum out there currently, and has been for the last 20+ years.
Period.

Yeah, I explored other sites and joined other forums over the years….but none of them come close to this Forum.
This place is a special family, and although we can complain a lot sometimes and get grumpy….we all care about the Parks.

I have tried conversing on other forums, but the posts and posters just are not of the same quality.
Some of you long timers here will know what I am talking about.
Two particular forums I can think of are just empty shells …..you know the ones.
😉

If you want to find out what is really happening within the company, and get the hot intel when news is breaking, THIS is the only place to be.
No clickbait, no ‘pixie dusting’, just real news, facts, and often fascinating insights.
The Forum here is the absolute heart of the website.
All the action happens here.

I love this Forum.
It’s the only place to be.

🙂

I’m a pretty new member here, but the community on these forums is great.

I originally joined to share my random observations of the parks (like the Grand Floridian walkway opening, or the DVC Ferries closing due to low water levels), but I’ve found so much to do on these forums… guess I’m a little addicted 🤣.

Overall, I’ve enjoyed my time so far greatly :)

Used to frequent the Dis quite a bit but based on recent events I'm taking my attention elsewhere along with unsubscribing from all their content. Love this forum, wish it had more robust resorts/dining posts.

After a bad experience on the DIS, I walked away. This was after many years as an active member. I spent months lurking on a number of Disney message boards before deciding to register on any of them. This site is more intimate and welcoming. In short, the answers is: "No! WDWmagic.com is  nothing like the disboards!"

It once was one of the only available sites for awhile. That and Laughing Place! I was involved with local Disney fan groups here in Raleigh organized via DIS. But they were sometimes overly censoring everything. I can't tell you how often I was timed out because of something I posted that was interpreted incorrectly by the management. To quick to pull the trigger, so to speak. It seemed that no negative thing could be posted about a Disney park without some degree of hand slapping. We all had to be comprised of 80% pixie dust and 20% sugar. I ran out of both years ago and just became the grumpy old man that I am today.
