Is D-Troops down?

"dtroops.com" is owned by Rob, and donated to the site.. since theres not site, he must have redirected it so it wouldn't link to a blank page...

As for the actual site. A few things have come up which prevent me (as the site's current webmaster) from fixing the site. In time, everyone will find out whats going on with it- but, for now, I guess we just have to wait... I'm as much in the dark about things as everyone else...

Bingo. I like getting my moneys worth for any domain I buy.. (you should see some of the random stuff I own). Once the site is back, the redirect will be corrected.

There are quite a few things going on behind the scenes, but technical and person issues precluding return of d-troops.com.

If you guys really want to help, stop sending emails and PM's. I don't have anything more to do with d-troops, but if Gregory is getting as many questions about the site as I am, then he is probably getting as much correspondence as me.

The story on d-troops.com is this.

1) It is on a friend of mine's server and the domain was donated/paid for by me and my friend has let them use the server at no charge since it's inception.
2) The day people noticed it went down a hard-drive crash ruined the server
3) The next day his wife's grandfather passed away
4) Within days of that his sister got married
5) He now has a new server on order and will restore the site once it arrives
6) During this whole period I was away on business to Washington DC and didn't see there was a problem

So I'm sure most of this can be blamed on me since I have been so busy with my day job that I didn't notice it has been offline until I saw this thread.

When the site comes back online if the current persons running the daily operations want to move to another server I would understand and could easily point the DNS somewhere else since I do not have the time or energy to be able to "keep up" with these types of issues.

My apologies to all who have been trying to figure out what has happened.

In other words, a site that is devoted to whining about Disney not spending money to keep up with maintenance or to keep the tired and feeble attraction limping on is on a free server. You would think they would spend a few bucks to make sure their site doesn't need rehab walls... :zipit: :zipit:

Hmm...a site that is not making a dime and everyone involved is doing it on their free-time. Well I'd think that sometimes these things happen. Welcome to the internet.

Now if someone would like to sponsor the site and put up some chunk of change to really make it roll I'm sure those responsible for it's current content would be more than willing to listen. Any offers?

Mich!!! You're alive!!! ;)

Well, if you get a chance, feel free to IM me, so we can point the domain someplace else for a little while until you get things back up and running :)

That seems to be the problem in that the content is rather without merit.

I would argue this point. Just because the sight is operated on a "non-profit" basis why does that make it without merit?

If anything I would think it would give it more merit since the owners are truly writing impassioned articles about issues they see with the Walt Disney Corporation and it's theme parks. Instead of writing articles for pay where someone behind them might be pulling the purse-strings to get certain articles published.

I hadn't been to D-Troops for months and found myself in need of their "Don't ever change anything" rhetoric and found that the site was down. Then I found this thread. Is it safe to asume that the D-Troops have been defeated in battle or surrendered French-style? Towards the end it sounded like in-fighting was killing them.

I can't speak for D-Troops, but would venture to answer your question, "yes."

Anyone know anything current?

OK, this is weird... I just checked D-troops and it linked automatically to MKT's home site !!

Wow, was I glad to read this! :p
After reading the last page of posts I was beginning to think I was either losing my marbles, or left out of some weird inside joke. Was no one else getting Rob's homepage but me? :hammer: :veryconfu

Glad to see that there is an explanation.
