I thought it was closing for the Guardian's of the Galaxy preview. I think Disneyland even confirmed it would be returning at a later date.

Our preview is taking place at the ABC Sound Studios at DHS.

Quite often, "returning at a later date", is Disney-speak for "never", or at best, it might be returning.
My guess would be that it's not.

I'm ready to move on from Captain EO. It wasn't even brought back fully with the original effects. I'd be fine with a shutdown of the entire pavilion, if and only if, there was going to be a new project starting to be installed the next day. Problem is, if they shut it down, I know there isn't anything else to put their right now. So I guess having Captain EO is better than nothing.

We saw Captian EO for the first time on our trip last week after skipping it the last 6 trips (so it was definitely still open as of last week). It was OK. Nothing that I am going to miss but if it is closing, I am glad i saw it so i couldn't wonder what i had missed. Then again, I fell asleep through half of it (goes to show how good it was).

WDW hasn't used the theatres for WDS previews like Disneyland does all the time (Muppets most frequently).

My guess is the old WDW motto of "we can't let our once in a lifetime guests miss out!" and they do nothing.. for as long as humanly possible.

Captain EO at Disneyland is closed for the guardians of the galaxy preview. They have said it will return after but supposedly i heard they took the sign down.

That's not really a big deal they took down the It's Tough To Be A Bug signs at DCA and put up Melificent signs for this preview.

I for one will be sad when Captain EO closes it's doors for the second time, whenever I'm at Epcot I make a point to see the show. As someone who never saw the original run, I was thankful that the movie had been brought back for a new generation. After my first viewing a couple of years ago, I immediately fell in love with the film! Personally I am getting tired of all the green screen CG effects of today, even though Captain EO is clearly a product of the 80's, there was so much work that went into creating this film between the costumes, sets, effects, etc. It was a nice change of pace compared to something like the Star Wars Prequels where you could tell the actors were preforming in front of a screen and sometimes were not even looking at the character they were talking to.

People can bash Captain EO all they want, I understand it's not for everyone but I plan on getting as many showing in as possible before TDO "retires" the Captain once again.

I think the thing I will miss the most is watching the pre-show, seeing Francis, GL and everyone. It is a great time capsule and it reminds me of my early visits to wdw. But it is probably ready for something new

The only thing of value in Captain EO is nostalgia. And nostalgia does not belong in future world!

IMHO, This film should never have been brought back. MJ's clouded past should have been enough to shelve this film but Disney could not help themselves from profiting from his death. Good riddance.

I agree with you about Captain EO regarding whether or not it should have come back, but to say that nostalgia doesn't belong in FW? Are there not people who (appropriately so) find nostalgia in Spaceship Earth? What about some of the other attractions in that area?
