There will be a lot of game key cards on Switch 2 but at least Nintendo itself is committed to full games on the cartridge. You’re right about PlayStation because the current rumor for the PS6 is that the disc drive will only be an optional extra.

I was a big fan of Ubisoft. I'd say that like most developers, they stopped focusing on making good games. It became too much about live service, micro transactions or quantity over quantity. I liked assassin's Creed origins but it lost a lot of what made Assassin's Creed, well, assassin's Creed. Everything became the "Ubisoft formula". Star wars should have been a slam dunk, just as a sands of time remake. But they couldn't get it right. I haven't played AC mirage or shadows yet as I was just burned out after Odyssey and Valhalla.
It's just a combination of so much we have talked about in this thread.

This to me isn't that surprising. When you look at the replacement it seems to play right into what Microsoft wants. Meta, insta cart, Microsoft AI, the home Depot board? It all just screams video games. Now I will say it could be a good thing. But it seemed that there were two conflicting ways of handling Xbox at Microsoft. And if things were going to get back to what most wanted for Xbox, Phil wouldn't be gone. I'm not convinced that Phil wanted to go the multiplatform route and go completely away from hardware. That seemed to be a Satya thing. I can't really prove anything, but reading between the lines, there just seemed to be two forces pulling against each other.Holy

Yea I can see that. I was mainly talking about myself. I've been an Xbox guy since 2001, so I follow it closer than most I would guess. Personally I figured this was coming sooner rather than later from watching way too many interviews over the last year or so. Lol
I will say, this year is going to tell us a lot as to what the direction of the industry will go.
RIP physical discs. I highly doubt Xbox is far behind.

If Xbox was smart, they would recreate the "this is how you trade games on ps4" from Sony. They should announce project Helix will have physical and the do the exact same thing that doomed the Xbox one. In all seriousness, Xbox tried this with the Xbox one. It's why we are in this spot now. The funny part is sony first party games have done overwhelmingly better physical than digital. Only 2 from what I read are less physical than digital. Elimination of physical has been the video games industry white whale for a long time. Now they actually have the opportunity to do it. So I have no doubt Microsoft will jump on board.
In other news, holy cow! Xbox had 14 levels of management? No wonder Xbox has been a poop show. No wonder they lost 64 cents for every dollar they put in. I know the layoffs are bad, but there's zero chance they could survive like they were. I'm glad the studios aren't just closing and they can keep there ip.

I've been saying for years, for the love of all that is holy, GIVE OBSIDIAN A FALLOUT! It was such a no brainer. I get outer worlds 1. It was there because it was kind of a love letter to fallout in my opinion. And obsidian wasn't part of Microsoft yet. But once Microsoft purchased them, there was no reason not to give them a game in the fallout universe. New Vegas 2? Seems like a no brainer to anyone paying attention. Except Xbox I guess. I really like fallout. I like the elder scrolls more but I have enjoyed fallout. I didn't play dark ages because I refuse to buy a PlayStation or Xbox for the kind of cash they want. Well maybe we see a semi id software resurgence since a big part of the plan in doom, Wolfenstein and quake.
I really hope idTech isn’t dead as a game engine now.
