Is a week after too late to celebrate?

First off, there is a birthday, than if you miss the day of, you celebrate your birth month, if you fail to be there for your birth month than you move to the birth year. that should do it, any longer than a year than you need to celebrate your next birthday.

Besides, how long does Disney celebrate Christmas and Halloween. Come on, its a celebration, there is no bad time to do it.

For those who were wondering what kind of stuff happens when you wear the birthday pin, below is my husband celebrating his birthday (and yes, a few days late) at WDW a few years ago.

As you see, he got a cupcake and a balloon (this was after he ate chocolate waffles, LOL.)

Other places, he got a mini ice cream sundae, a birthday card "signed" by Mickey, and more cupcakes. Cupcakes, cupcakes, cupcakes. At one point, I was like, "You better take that pin off because if they give you one more cupcake, you are going to go into sugar shock and explode into a million pieces!"

But anyway, yes, they do give you stuff when you wear the birthday pin. Or at least they did for Phil.

not true - disney knows not everyone is able to be there ON their birthday and are totally ok with you celebrating early or late
Plus as a cast member was passing out pins to us rope droppers she asked for birthdays, anniversaries and then asked "or just celebrating anything."I think Disney wants people to celebrate. We didn't get anything for free for our anniversary pin but we did get a dessert at Mama Melrose. I did however tell them on the phone we would be celebrating when I made the reservation for Fantasmic dining. So I believe it was from that and not the pin itself. My kids have celebrated on days that aren't their exact bday. Places around our town that expect it to be on actual day ask for an id. and it's because they give a free burger or something. Oh and the anniversary was a month early and I told cast member on phone it was going to be early due to band camp in July. So I don't believe it is cheating in any way.

I’ve had several CMs tell me that it’s ok to celebrate if you’re within 6 months of a birthday or special date...meaning in their eyes, it’s always an appropriate time to celebrate.

I understand some people try and take advantage of things, but that could happen with anything. The reality is that we can’t always celebrate the way we’d like on or right near the actual date. Maybe your kids are in school or you can’t take vacation from work due to some critical business season. People have priorities that come first, but they shouldn’t be denied the option to celebrate once the time is right.

Last year we took my daughter on her graduation trip in November, Disney knew we were celebrating her graduation they also knew she graduated from high school in May. With no prompting from us she was presented with her button when we checked in, every table service meal brought her a special dessert, characters and cast members alike were constantly conratulating her the whole trip, and at the VMCP Aladdin gave her some graduation mouse ears.

I certainly hope one week isn’t bad because my 25th anniversary is next Sept but we cannot go until late Nov to celebrate!

And I’ve seen people go months or even a year later to celebrate.

I'm the type of introvert you would have to pay to wear a birthday button. Don't want that attention. :p

I tried to keep my BDay a secret on our Disney Cruise last November. The computer ratted me out and on my actual BDay our servers went nuts. I did like the generously poured rum flight they made me. On pirate night no less.

Yay Nuts. ;)

Pretty sure that was a joke - do the math. 6 months before or 6 months after? It literally means anytime ;)

It’s no joke. While getting a birthday button I asked a CM in Guest Services at the MK if it was ok I celebrated my birthday a week late and with a super serious face she gave me the “Disney is very strict..6 months before 6 months after” line. it was hilarious at the time.
