Introduction

This looked like the best place to introduce myself so Hi everyone

My DH and I have been lurking on here for a bit whilst planning our trip to WDW in December this year and we finally joined a couple of days ago so that we could post, we have a few questions coming for you all :)

So just to introduce ourselves we live in the UK, married with 1 DD age 5. We are all Disney mad so I guess we've come to the right place  DH and I loved Disney before we met and have both been to WDW before but never together. DH went in 1997 and I went in 2000. We have been dreaming of taking our DD since the moment I fell pregnant possibly even before that!

We are flying to WDW on December 22nd should arrive around 3pm, we stay for 10 nights and fly home on New Years Eve. We will be wishing each other Happy New Year in the air. We have chosen to stay at the Coronado Springs Resort which we are really excited about. On his previous trip my DH stayed off site and I stayed at ASMusic so it is going to be great to be able to stay at a moderate resort this time.

Anyway I have probably waffled on enough about us for an intro. Look forward to hearing from you all and getting to know you better and to benefit from some of your WDW expertise.

Welcome! I've never been at Christmas time, but from what I've heard, you are going at a beautiful time for the parks and resorts! I hope you'll share a trip report when you return :)

Hi and thanks for the welcomes

I am so excited about going out at Christmas I know it will be crazy busy but there is something about Christmas and Disney that just seems so right together - guess its the magic of it all.

Look forward to sharing our trip with you all when we return.

Christmas is our fav time to visit. If you have the chance, visit some of the other resorts to check their Christmas decorations. The 3 on the monorail are easy to do while taking a break from the MK. If you can only do one of them, definitely visit the Grand Floridian to see the gingerbread house in the center of the lobby. It is truly a sight to behold. Welcome to the boards!

WELCOME!! :wave::wave::wave:

What fun, WDW during the Holidays. I agree, you must see GF gingerbread house, and the chocolate carosel at Beach Club. Each resort is so beautifully decorated, they're worth the extra trip (though I'd skip the Contemporay; lots of construction - don't know if they'll decorate this year).

Another must see is the MVMCP; worth the extra cost for the parade and the 'snow' on Main Street, cookies and apple cider or hot chocolate. We went last year and it was truely wonderful. Wish we could do it again this year, but alas, I have no vacations days remaining...will have to wait until Spring now.

Have a GREAT time!

Thanks everyone It is so great hearing from you all and thanks for all your suggestions.

I really hope that we will have time to visit the other resorts to see the decorations I really want to see the Gingerbread House - I would love to stay at the Gand Floridian Dh has said he'll take me for our anniversary one year when we're old and grey and DD has a home of her own we might be able to afford it then

I'm a bit worried about the construction at the Contemporary we didn't know about that and we our going there for breakfast at Chef Mickeys on Christmas Day - hopefully it will still be lovely. We are having breakfast at CMs at 8.10 and then over to MK, we're a bit worried about whether we will still be able to get into the park at 9.30ish because we have heard that the park gets maxed out early on Christmas Day. What is the best way to MK from Contemporary? Gee I have so many questions and so little time

Welcome! There's lots of great advice around here so don't hesitate to ask!

(I'm also a little jealous - I'd love to go WDW at Christmas time):)

Best route to MK from Contemporay

WALK. Go down to the first floor; exit out the doors that lead to the bus stop. Keep on walking to MK (about 10 minutes - depending on how fast you walk). If you select the Monorail , you'll stop at Ticket & Trans Center, Polynesian and Grand Floridian before you get to MK.

Interior construction may be complete by December - they're putting in a new gift shop on the 4th floor. You'll still be able to enjoy CM to the fullest! I just posted a couple of construction pix on Picture of the Day forum (page 135). Take a look! Exterior construction is opposite end of building from CM.

Thansk that is so helpful - glad we asked as we probably would have taken the monorail!
