Internet killed the World Showcase films.

O Canada!, Impressions De France, Reflections of China, and the aptly named Short Vilm About Norr-Vey.....Sure they were great 20 years ago...but modern technology and widespread access to the Internet has killed them.

If you want to know about Canada or Norway or France, you can just hop online and get in touch with each country's tourism board, or check out the sights and sounds of each country on YouTube or other video hosting sites.

I think WS would be a lot more effective if each country were to scrap the tourism films and have a REAL attraction (I'm looking at YOU, Rhine River Tours/Mt. Fuji Coaster/Switzerland Pavilion with Matterhorn Bobsleds)

Or if they insist on keeping the Circlevision films, at least put some seats in there. Rows of seats on a carousel in the center so the viewers could just recline back (like a planetarium) and be able to view each screen.

I disagree with removing the films however I think they could use a facelift. The film in Canada is very entertaining and perhaps the other pavilions would be wise to add some humor mixed in

I agree with Martin that the big screens are spectacular. BUT, I do question how many others actually think that. I do think that a good majority would say that they can see all this stuff on YouTube and that will do. Much like the way DVD extras and the internet made a lot of MGM Studios behind the scenes exhibits irrelevant to a lot of people.

TV and documentaries pre-date EPCOT

Internet video hasn't killed the theater experience..

And Circlevision is way beyond simply watching the video itself... much like Soarin' is much more than simply watching a video while seated.

But those videos in the theater are exclusive to the theater. They aren't found in good quality online.

They're also the main attraction. These are sideshows.

I don't know what you are trying to say honestly..

You can't replicate the circlevision experience (heck, not even see the whole thing) on a youtube video. Just like an IMAX experience is beyond watching the same video on your laptop.

Sure but I just don't think anyone who hasn't seen it is going to jump at the concept when described. I don't think they'll really "get it" and just pass assuming if it was worth seeing it would be online.

they should take advantage of modern technology and maybe have 3d or 4d films

yah kinda like maybe Walt would have updated the films if he were still alive..personally I kind of like the circlevision films even though I am sure they are dated ...I don't know if I agree there should be ride attractions as part of the WS . I kind of like the more adult feel to it with the shops and the displays and the acts and of course the food...

That's enough for me to skip the dead effects in the Epcot theater.

I gave Kudo's and a high-five when Disney quickly pulled EO over the controversy with MJ.

Disney deserved two high-fives upside the back of their heads for bringing EO back and then another smack upside the noggin for allowing EO to continue to play on.

MJ while a brilliant performer originally way, way back when, hardly a role model for little Mouseketeers.

I don't know. Accusations do not a criminal make. I don't wanna debate this here though.

Well using that logic, the internet has killed all attractions at Disney, since you can find videos of every ride online with little effort.

I think more than anything, with the advent of mobile video viewing on our phones and such, that simply having a 25+ year old video about a country is not enough to pique someones interest. They need to have a gimmick to pull people in and keep them coming back. Heck I think simply making new films in digital format and offering them in Ultra HD would make a huge difference.
