Hiya Gang:wave:

34 more days and I will be in WDW....boy am I excited!

Question....I talked with the girlfriend last night...and she wanted to know if there was an internet connection in the room...Personaly I dont plan on taking my laptop..I am on vacation and I DO NOT want to get sucked into work.... but she might wanna take hers...if she gets board or tired and wants to go back to the resort....(we will be staying at PO-FQ).

Anywhoo... Now I would imagine there is a standard phone jack I could just unplug the phone and do dial up...or is there is a high speed LAN connection availble...? or any other data port?

Also..if it is dial up.....how many local calls do you get a day or whatever? What are the charges? etc...

Any info would be great.....
Thanks :)

Oh mine was safe...I just put it back in the carring case...and put it in the TV/Dresser wardrobe thing....and closed the doors every morning I left....and it was fine.....dont sweat it :)

The parks now also feature "pay as you go" Internet kiosks throughout the parks.

The only one I know of offhand is in the breezeway at Future World East in the middle of the phone bank.

Yes. They are called "AT&T 2000" and they have a full keyboard with a mouse pad. They cost $0.25 per minute with a minimum of $1.00. However, if you have an AT&T, ISP account then you can "sign in" and go anywhere you want. Also, they have "free" Internet sites (Disney and other "stuff") that you can contact. It is a slow 28,800 bps hook-up. If you wish to waste some time you can "jump" anywhere. As an example, while caught in a sudden rain storm I took a few minutes to "play" with one or these devices just outside of the "Guest Relations" area near SE. I went to the Disney Club for free, then logged on and then had free reign to go anywhere I desired. I checked my email and by then the rain had stopped and I logged off (very important). However, it kept me out of the rain for 15 minutes!

However, you can dial out, at $.75 per call, no limit on time, and almost every provider has access numbers for Orlando.

My mom and my uncle are DVC members and we always stay in one of those huge suites at the Boardwalk Villas (one of those snob rooms I think). Those do not have high speed LAN connections, just the dial up which, last time I was down, was .75 a call. Now, there are snobbier rooms, such as that huge suite in the Grand Floridian that Princess Diana stayed in one time. That one is something like 4,000 dollars a day or something. I dunno if those have them, but the Boardwalk suites do not.

A thought...

Wouldn't anyone who was able to affording a hotel room with a high speed internet connect perhaps instead have paid for a wireless/cellular thingy for their laptop? Oo, maybe some sort of satellite phone.. rich people love those.
