34 more days and I will be in WDW....boy am I excited!

Question....I talked with the girlfriend last night...and she wanted to know if there was an internet connection in the room...Personaly I dont plan on taking my laptop..I am on vacation and I DO NOT want to get sucked into work.... but she might wanna take hers...if she gets board or tired and wants to go back to the resort....(we will be staying at PO-FQ).

Anywhoo... Now I would imagine there is a standard phone jack I could just unplug the phone and do dial up...or is there is a high speed LAN connection availble...? or any other data port?

Also..if it is dial up.....how many local calls do you get a day or whatever? What are the charges? etc...

Any info would be great.....
Thanks :)

When I was there last year you could plug the computer in to the phone jack to use on the internet. The charge was .75 cents for all local phone calls and all 1-800 numbers.

No, it's just the .75 per call. I don't think there is a limit on how long you can talk.

The parks now also feature "pay as you go" Internet kiosks throughout the parks.

The only one I know of offhand is in the breezeway at Future World East in the middle of the phone bank.

I have Cable at home and I have a backup dialup account just in case....and lucky me...I just found there (407) network dial in numbers:

Thanks again everyone :)

agreed there too. my future inlaws have AOL, so we made up a name on their account and used their account to dial up.

and I have cable too, it is so sweet and fast and I love it. but have fun in disney!

I also have a cable modem (comcast), but I was thinking about taking my laptop. Does anyone know if it is possible for me to access the internet? Are there any general services that would allow me to do it on a "pay as you go" basis, or would I have to actually sign up for dial-up service?

There are none as with pay as you go, but I do know you can still get limited free access from Juno/Netzero... and all the big dialups will let you use other access numbers if you are one of the users

When I went for 8 days there in first of sept this year I just used my work account :D

Man I still want to be back there!!!

Except for possibly in the "SNOB" rooms, Disney has not installed broadband conectivity in their rooms. Reason # 1 - the cost. Reason # 2 - The whole point of going to Disney is to get away from that stuff.

However, you can dial out, at $.75 per call, no limit on time, and almost every provider has access numbers for Orlando.

Thanks! I'll look into that. Unfortunately we have DSL at work and no dial up road service (yet)

I just got back a couple of weeks ago and I was only charged $0.35 per call. I'm not sure why, I did read somewhere that it would be $0.75....

For the record, I did have a local number for internet access and was staying at the Boardwalk Villas.

My question is just how safe would the laptop be in the room at WDW? I was debating bringing mine, but the in-room safe over at AKL didn't seem big enough for my laptop.
