Does anyone know if International Gateway at Epcot used to be accessible to the buses? Whenever we stay at Y&B, we wonder if that used to be another drop off point, before the resorts were built around Crescent Lake. Does anyone know???

I am getting old. But I THINK I remember there being a tram of some sort.......but I don't remember where it went......to the front of EPCOT?.......to the EPCOT resorts? Those brains cells are apparently dead because my brain is starting to hurt....sorry couldn't be of more help...:( :hammer:

Not to reopen an old thread, but this was the only one I could find that applied to my question:

What is the history of the International Gateway at Epcot? Has it always existed? Though I was in Epcot in 82 I was only 6 :)

Did it exist before MGM? Before the Swan and Dolphin? If so what was it used for? Also, what about Crescent Lake? Did it exist when Epcot opened, or was it created/expanded later as MGM/Resorts came online?

Thanks!

Baloo - International Gateway and Crescent lake was created for the Swan/Dolphin and Yacht/Beach Club resorts, and also to link EPCOT to MGM by Water Taxi - they all opened within 12 months of each other (May89+)

Originally, trams like the parking trams ran the route too (hence the large turning circle outside the turnstyles) but they were stopped, If I recall, due to possible accidents since walking guets were not segregated from the trams.

Thanks for the reply! So then from 82- ~89 there was no Crescent Lake? What of the bridge to France? (Or was ther just a cannal to nowhere originally?)

Thanks!

I do remember the shop over there being there before the Swan or Dolphin got built, though. I bought a shirt there with Mickey Mouse on it and his name in Russian.
