International Gateway tram shelter coming down?

Roughly half of the remaining structure was removed last night. Only a small section at each end now remains.

No pictures due to this morning's storms.

Rain? That's not excuse! We need pics! Get that camera out and get over there. :lookaroun :D

I would expect the rest gone by tomorrow morning.

I never knew there was a tram there. When did it stop running? What did it look like?

The tram ran before the Boardwalk hotel complex was built. The actual wooden walkway was there, but construction on the hotel, shops, restaurants, etc. was delayed for several years and went through several iterations). But I digress. The tram ran along that boardwalk to stops at Swan/Dolphin, and the edge of Yacht Club furthest from the Beach Club. It looked like your standard tram, although someone else will have to fill in teh details as to size (my sense is that it was narrower than the parking lot trams, but I don't have a pic).

Once the hotel/restuarant/shops opened up, there was way too much pedestrian traffic on the boardwalk, so the tram stopped in favor of more boat service.

The rollershrubs have been pushed up a bit such that the clear shot from the side is no longer possible. I wonder if it's because of this thread... :lookaroun

Wow, I know its odd but Im a little bit depressed about this. Those overhangs really tied the International Gateway together. Seriously tho, ever since they stopped using the tram I imagined how they could be repurposed and what they could be used for. Now that they're gone my years of Imagineering are wasted.

So they ran something like this then?

The trams were standard parking lot trams, but in pastel pink and blue to mirror the Y&B
