Do you use Instagram? Use it to share more than your food/cats/coffee? Seen the latest on their Terms of Service which take effect 1/16/2013? You may not like it....

Basically, it comes down to ads and using your photos you share in those ads without your permission and without any compensation. Typical rights-grabbing BS.
"To help us deliver interesting paid or sponsored content or promotions, you agree that a business or other entity may pay us to display your user name, likeness, photos (along with any associated metadata), and/or actions you take, in connection with paid or sponsored content or promotions, without any compensation to you," Instagram says in the terms of service.
Wired has a nice article on how to download your photos and nuke your account. The NY Times covers exactly what this means to you.

I was going to post about this one as well. Not good - although I guess typical of the new owners.

There is something that most people do not realize about social apps such as these. You are not the customer, you are the product. Selling adds only goes so far. Eventually they will have to sell you.
Yep very true. People really don't see that they are populating with their content and they really have no control over it.

Facebook does the same type of thing, they try and pass absurd privacy settings, people revolt, and then Facebook adjusts what they do to better fit what the people want. If I were Zuckerburg I'd say screw you, I own this and I'll do what I want either leave or get on board. The number of people that will leave is still going to be less than the money you're going to be able to exploit from the people the stay, so who cares?!

Form a users standpoint it's horrible and insulting but honestly if you don't like it, delete your account.

I do have an account by I think I have a total of like 4 photos uploaded and mainly just use it to follow the same companies and people I do on Facebook so I don't think I'll delete it. If they want to use my photos they can have them.

Has anyone tried the Flickr app? I've read it's a good alternative to Instagram (the iPhone version...not sure about Android). I just downloaded it but haven't had a chance to try it out.

best quote I have seen in a while...

"oh, so you don't mind when it's a musicians file or a filmmakers work? It all changes when it's your "crappy - s word really" instragram photos, eh?

That and I use instagram as a way to market myself. Some are iPhone photos, some are photos I take with a dSLR that I email to my phone and upload from there. Some editors follow me; my goal is to get more and more work.

I enjoy Instagram. Don't think anyone would ever be interested in my pics so I'm not really all that concerned with this. Plus, I'm too lazy to assign all the hashtags, key words, etc. I'm no photographer. Don't pretend to be. Yep, I'm taking crappy photos and playing with the filters. I'm not spending the bucks to buya DSLR, pricey lenses, or any vintage equipment to tote around wherever I go. I'm happy with being an Instagram flunky. The iphone goes with me everywhere anyway. No problem.
