Increased foot traffic at Epcot's International Gate...

I see your point in that situation. But if i am staying at Caribbean, I am way more inclined to have dinner at Crews Cup, get ice cream at Ample Hills, and then dance a few songs at Atlantic Dance because there is easy, direct access to that area now. Pre SkyLiner, I would avoid plans at the Crescent Lake Resorts if I were not staying there. Disney Transport was annoying. But now post SkyLiner, it is an easy way to get to a whole area of great restaurants and night time fun.

I'm not sure you're in the majority there, but I do think any change is really going to depend on how fast and easy it turns out to be. I personally would not go out of my way something like Crew's Cup or Ample Hills, but am much more likely to for something like Enzo's Hideaway, Splitsville, House of Blues, AMC, etc. If Disney wants to make Boardwalk any sort of destination in and of itself, they've got a lot of work to do over there, IMO.

That’s why Disney is cool. I’m lucky I get to stay around Crescent Lake often, but when I can’t I try to get there. For our family, we much prefer Boardwalk area over Disney Springs. Disney has something for all of us. Have fun :)

Absolutely. Crescent Lake is so much better than the shopping mall that Disney Springs has become. We were there in January and decided that we didn't really have to come back.

I'm inclined to believe that the effect of the gondola system will primarily be increased traffic through IG. I think the reason you don't see more people on the Boardwalk remains the same. If I'm staying at CBR for example, and am leaving Epcot through IG after a hot, tired day, I'm probably more interested in a shower and some rest than I am Atlantic Dance Hall. Disney Springs is huge draw at night as well, and likely captures those who are looking to go out. I don't see how gondolas change any of that.

Of course that's true for the majority of folks. But there are plenty of go-getters that will decide to have dinner at Crescent Lake before they go back to one of the other resorts. ...and plenty more folks that will now venture over to the Boardwalk on the fun gondolas that would have never have gotten on the boring bus (again).

I don't see IG being a particular bottleneck for park entry; it just needs a little building work to increase capacity.
Park exit is a much bigger issue, as there is no space for queues for Skyliner, boat and foot traffic to all stand in line without blocking each other when the park closes.
Hopefully, the new show will run twice a night to spread out that surge.

And truthfully, what park isn't a hot mess at closing. trying to get on the monorail at the end of the night from MK is also horrible. maybe it's because I'm a big city gal and lol, you don't go anywhere quick if you're driving, I never expect to breeze out of a theme park at the end of the night right back to my hotel.

I expect that when star war land opens along with toy story land, HS will also be a hot mess at the end of the night.

But, to save everyone time, I will give my reasons for deleting certain posts in this thread. This Thread is about potential crowding at the IG due to the gondola. Not strollers (and the ensuing arguments that always follow) or scooters (and the ensuing arguments that always follow.) Even though those two issues MIGHT have an impact on crowding, a debate about whether or not they are needed is not part of that discussion.

ALWAYS, no matter how civil some posters will be, others will get nasty. And I will spend hours deleting/editing posts , along with complaints of "why did you delete MY post and let X's post on the same topic stay?" And then will argue about it even after I've pointed out how it was rude/offensive/insulting, etc. IMO - which is the deciding one, whether you agree or not. That is in the TOS for participating in this forum. If you do not agree, there are other forums. Part of the reason many of the older Disney fan forums have survived is because they try to make it a welcoming place for everyone - which means that from time to time it

There are certain topics that have always devolved into nastiness, and in the past (been doing this for 15 years) I've hoped that maybe, just this once, people can discuss these "hot" topics in an adult, rational, civilized manner without being offended, taking it personally, or attacking/insulting other posters. And it hasn't happened yet. Insanity is doing (or in this case, allowing) the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome. I decided a while ago that I wasn't going down that road.

Your site, your rules.

I admin two sites (non Disney related) and have modded two other sites at different points over 11 years, I get it. Rather I was surprised it happened.

Rest is probably PM worthy.

Not one single person has mentioned the most obvious answer to park entrance crowding...

Hate crowds? Get there early. Boom! There's your top secret tip of the day.

Seriously. There's a LOT less people at the IG (or main entrances) just before/at opening than there will be an hour, two or three hours later. Sure, there will be a big initial rush, perhaps dwindling a little before the real onslaught comes... But that's always a bit of a gamble. Get there ahead of time (early) and get ahead of the crowd.

IMO it’s distance from the rides make it less than optimal at opening. I think that’s being overlooked.

I’m thinking it’s value is at other times or when heading back to a resort in the area. I’ll be watching for this when we go in December.

Truthfully I'm not sure I think this is right. I've not noticed a huge jump just after opening. I have seen more crowds just before it though. Anecdotal evidence of course.

Are there plans to open World Showcase earlier like the rest of the park? If not I’d see this entrance as being at a disadvantage at park opening.

It's been demonstrated that IG to Akershus/FEA is about equi-distant as from the Main Entrance. Time wise there's not much in it. Now that's the furthest away ride pretty much from IG. Getting to Soarin at rope drop is faster from IG, unless you walk very slowly.

But if you are arriving from an Epcot resort or, come next year sometime, from one of the Skyliner resorts, that is a moot point. The IG is your nearest entrance, unless you want to Uber round to the Main Entrance.

Not that many guests would deliberately go to the BC and walk to IG instead of going to the main entrance.

Not today. But give it a few years, and consider the impact Rat and Mary will have...

Disney has set up the Deluxe Resorts in particular as destinations in themselves. I don't see how this is any different than the monorail resorts right now. Or even AKL to a slightly lesser extent. Now people staying in the gondola resorts will have an easy way to enjoy the Crescent Lake area
