Incident on Test Track (3/9/18)

Test Track and allegedly, Radiator Springs Racers at DCA, were closed today (3/9) after one of the vehicles on TT lost a tire while in motion. Both attractions are shutdown pending maintenance and safety reviews.

Via Disneyland app, Radiator Springs Racers shows a posted 50 minute wait as of 9:40 PM, PST. So hopefully this incident wasn’t too serious.

We don't know exactly which tire it was. If I am not mistaken, each ride vehicle has 22 that are all used in one way or another.

If I am not mistaken there are the four main car tires and then 18 tiny wheels in different rows under the car to keep it locked to the track. You can kinda see them in this photo:

One of my pet peeves too. If people would just put a date in the thread title, i.e. "Incident on Test Track 3/8/18" it would help. ESPECIALLY those that say something is closed "today".

I think the 4 big wheels are fake and only for decoration. The real wheels are the ones under the platform thing.

To my knowledge that is incorrect as they are real/functioning and are the only wheels above the track. In fact, Disney and Goodyear had to work to create a special tire for the vehicles as the standard tires wore out far too fast.

a friend was backstage when it happened. the tire flew and hit a cast building. the building was slightly damaged, but has been boarded up now.

Ask your friend which building... I'd be curious to know as the probability of it flying off the track and causing considerable damage to the extent it would need to be "boarded up" intrigues me. Theres only a few places within close proximity of the Test Track building in an area of the track I could imagine the wheel to have enough force and velocity to reach.
