Inaccuracy in the Disneyland 50th Website

Does anyone see anything wrong with this? Don't skip the introduction.

http://disneyland.disney.go.com/dlr/special/golden/index

For the bandwidth-challenged, this is a link to the Disneyland 50th Anniversary Website. The inroduction features Walt talking about Disneyland and a picture of him walking through the Disneyland castle (It has to be, since it was the only one around when he was alive), but all of the concept art and wide shots in the intro are of the very, very different Walt Disney World castle.

Yeah that is kinda weird. At first I was thinking that maybe they were just showing all the different castles, but it's odd they chose to only show the WDW one. It's possible they were showing both WDW and Tokyo, since they're pretty much indistinguishable from one another. But then, why didn't they also show Paris? Strange.

Shhh....they're watching...you might anger our Disney Co. overlords.

You're not supposed to notice this. :lookaroun

Seriously, I don't have a clue why it's all WDW stuff. Hmmmm...

Just found another error. The stats given for Space Mountain at Disneyland(when you click on "1977") are incorrect. It states that Space Mountain "towers over 180 feet in height and takes in a diameter of 300 feet." Those are the stats for Florida's Space Mountain. Disneyland's is 118 feet tall and 200 feet in diameter. Someone didn't do their fact-checking before putting it on the web site.

you should email them...they surprisingly do change stuff if you tell them to. I told them to fix their spelling of the Tower of Terror on the merchandise page (it said Twlight Zone...missing an i) and it was fixed the next day.

Okay, I just emailed them. We'll see if they correct it.

I wouldn't expect them to change the castle image, and I don't really see that as a PROBLEM--it's odd, but it's okay. Space Mountain stats, however, are blatantly wrong and could be easily fixed.

just need to add on here... The 50th Celebration video on the website DOES show ALL 4 CASTLES. The reason is this- all 4 theme parks are celebrating the 50th anniversary of DL. This is not an inaccuracy, just a small clip of other promo's that are available.

The main site does feature all of the parks, but the only one that the intor video does is the WDW/TDL castle (I really can't tell the difference). I understand that they want to emphasize the global celebration, but this is Disneyland's celebration, so shouldn't that park be featured most prominantly?

On a side note, something odd I noticed at the end of the video, when the concept art turns to a photo of the finished WDW castle, there's a weird sort of arch over the castle entrance. I'd never noticed it before, and I don't think I ever saw the castle with this on it. Any insight?

Well, it's now been over a week since I emailed Disney regarding the Space Mountain inaccuracy. The automatically generated response says, "check your email soon for our reply". I've yet to receive a reply and they have not corrected the error yet. I just emailed them again. We'll see what happens. I guess they're not too concerned about giving incorrect info on their site.

wait a minute...you mean to tell me theres a disneyLAND? Where is this so called Disneyland? And you mean to tell me its semi different than the Magic KINGDOM!?!?! OH NO...IM SO CONFUSED!!! :fork: :D :drevil:

Seriously though, you would think that they would be focusing on Disneyland and not providing info on WDW. Now, I havent looked at the site (because im lazy) but assuming all of you are correct, it makes me wonder sometimes...

Anyway, hope everyone had a good holiday.

The Hong Kong Castle is the same design as Disneyland's, though bigger I believe.
it is? It looks pretty freakin small in the pics I've seen...underwhelming like everything in that park :(
