Imagine if there were no iPhones or iPads inside Disney attractions

The issue with cameras in rides is purely the obtrusive light and flash, NOT the recording itself. What needs to be done is disabling the flash, camera light and the backlights on phone screens to have them not be obtrusive during parades. It'd also be ridiculous to disable the entire phone and take out calls, texting and internet communication in queues so then you have people unable to tell the people they went with where they are in the park if they're in a line. If you ban recordings then you're never going to see rides at parks you're never gonna be at. You'd never know what the China, Tokyo or France park many unique rides would be like. There are youtube channels dedicated purely to recording ride footage, including the awesome 360 gyro stuff that no one wants to see go away. Any technology from google or Apple or whoever is talked about in this articles needs to just disable the lighting aspects of their devices or else everyone loses.

And before someone says "well there is a ton of ride footage up online already" the parks are going put up many rides you're interested in after the no phone in ride thing and then the people who want to see it are screwed. Also, this just gives people another reason to buy an Android of a camcorder instead.

Ahhh, that would make sense. No wonder I didn't see any - because we are the types that skip the parades and head for the rides. I can't believe anyone would tell you "f" you. That's enough rudeness to ruin your trip!
There was a post on reddit this week about a person in the front of the Disneyland Space Mountain car getting defensive and irate after having someone tell him to *gasp* not shine a light and basically have a headlight the entire ride. Then, that person's group dogpiled the guy protesting, were also irate, and somehow defended the guy shining a light in Space Mountain, the darkest ride in Disney parks.

He was not. We actually watched to see if a CM would speak with him when we exited the ride. Nothing was done. Nothing was said.

I forgot to mention that we did speak with CMs on a lot of the dark rides about the flashes. They said it is mentioned to not use them, but they mostly rely on Guest integrity. We only heard it mentioned on Nemo. We suggested that they have a visual of no flash photography. It would reinforce the courtesy rule/request to some and help those who may not understand (or wish to understand) English.

The flexible end of a fishing rod across the back of their necks would help them understand too.

As someone who enjoys recording and photographing rides, and watching other people's footage and photos of said rides, I would hate this incredibly. It's half the fun for me. Mind you, I just use a simply ipod for this. If there was a way to just disable those those honking huge ipads, I wouldn't be against this. A crowd of people photographing with iphones doesn't bother nearly as much as being behind one guy with an ipad
You're still wrong to use any type of light up screen in a dark ride, no matter how small. It's annoying.

The majority of Big rides have it..
From Universal Orlando's site..
These lockers are available at the entrance of the following attractions:
  • Popeye & Blutos' Bilge-Rat Barges®
  • Dudley Do-Rights Ripsaw Falls®
  • Jurassic Park River Adventure®
  • Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™
  • Dragon Challenge™
  • Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit®
  • Revenge of the Mummy®
  • Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts™
  • MEN IN BLACK™ Alien Attack

  • NOTE: The lockers at Dragon Challenge™, MEN IN BLACK™ Alien Attack™, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™, Revenge of the Mummy®, Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts™ and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit® are free for at least the first 45 minutes (time may vary - check with the individual attractions for specific length of time)
Err.... storing your phone and ALL loose items is only required on Hulk, Dragon Challenge, and Rip Ride Rockit. (and it's somewhat overkill)

The rest of the attractions with lockers only require bags to be stored.

You say overkill . Universal's lawyers say prevention of an ugly lawsuit.

I guess every other theme park in the entire world with big roller coasters is doing it wrong, then.

And now they've shot themselves in the foot and can't ever remove the metal detector procedure.

2010/2011 they stopped the Dragon challenge from launching at the same time due to 2 accidents involving unsecured items. One involved removing someones eye. Try explaining to that person why stowing your stuff is such an inconvenience .

Yes, I know. And it wasn't unsecured items, it was a rider deliberately throwing stuff at the other train. That's why it went incident free for 12 years and then had these incidents within the span of, what was it? two weeks?

Personally i think Disney should follow the example set by six flags over cameras on rides. Blanket ban . Makes it easier for cast members to enforce.
