Imagine if there were no iPhones or iPads inside Disney attractions

Was happy when the selfie sticks were banned.....personally the ONLY reason I now will carry my phone in the parks is that I am rather forced to do so with fastpass+.....otherwise it was in purse turned off (in case of emergency or to change a dining reservation!) and had DH leave his in room.....laptops and work email had sabotaged our early trips....while I know some people must for their own reasons, I have to assume most people don't NEED to. Everything I want in my trip is not to be found on a gadget and the whole point of my vacation is not to be connected to wondering about keeping up, updating, etc. I want to look around and talk with my family not be drawn to my phone. Yep they are fun, yep they are addictive......it bothers me a lot to see families together anywhere let alone at Disney all on their devices and not interacting with each other...in lines, while they eat.....etc.
I am all for some level of a time and a place for things, and would love to see phones default to emergency calls only while driving, at best disable texting while the car is in drive.....its a daily thing now to see people staring down at their laps when they start up from a stop light because they have to continue to respond.....:banghead: Sometimes less is more....and then one gets more from the experience away from said gadget.

Because my video/photo is sooooo much better and different than the hundreds of thousands available on YouTube or anywhere else on the internet. Especially those really well-produced and professionally made ones. Why would I want to watch those when I can see my glorious fuzzy/shaky/badly composed camerawork? Me, Mine, I .

If they do this for iPhone then they need it for ALL phones. I just don't see Disney going to this level of control. It would just make too many people mad and Disney doesn't want to tick people off like this. Of course these same padholes and phone/camera users don't seem to care too much about who they are making mad when they whip out their bright devices in the ride. I'm telling you.... carry a tight focus LED flashlight to blind these people when they do the same thing to you. ;)

Would be happy if they just caused the devices to turn off if held over the users head. This would enable me to see a show and not look through a sea of tablets and phones.

I still like the electric shock idea. :angelic:

If these phones can tell when our eyes look away from the phone to stop the video we are watching and can tell when we are smiling in the photos we take then why can't it know that someone is recording something over their head and shut it down?

What did we do without our phones to record stuff?? Oh yea-camcorders!! Lol Actually, I was surprised to see a member say that all recording is banned at certain parks (johnguelff mentioned cedar fair). Wild. I am wondering when people had camcorders (before the smart phone explosion) to video their trips, if those were ever banned

Yeah, on more than one occasion they stopped the rollercoaster I was on to manually climb the lift hill, and take a guests phone. Zero tolerance policy at Cedar Point.

Here's a suggestion, if someone is using the flash on an attraction, simply ask them to stop. We were on Frozen Ever After and a woman in the front row was using her flash, so we asked her to turn it off. 90% of the time, they'll listen.

This would never work unless there is some sort of government mandate. Too many phone brands in the market.

ing off your paying customers is never a good idea, whether it is Apple or Disney. I am sure some other entities may not care as much (venues).

Just disable the flash. That would make me happy.
I need my phone in the queue, though. Keeps me sane. I am not the strike up a conversation with the guy ahead of me types.

Same here, last night my wife asked me why am I happy to stay in our apartment so much, and I told her, "because if I go outside, there's people out there."

That is when a thing called 'VHS tape' gets pulled out and played.
Ahhhhh....
Do they even make VCR's anymore to play them? lol

I wish all the iphones and androids would stop working and everyone had to use a flip phone like me...:D
You and my father in law could be good friends.

Go to Universal Studios to experience this rule...

Oh. Well I only go to Universal every few years, and I only did that for rip ride rock it cause I didn't want to chance my phone falling out. But if it's everywhere, it wasn't being enforced too strictly when I was there in January

Not too long ago there were no ipads and iphones. Its not hard to imagine Disney without them. Life was great then. People actually talked to each other in line and made friends during their stay. Cast member were ever present and willing to help. People rode the rides without disrupting others with their selfies. We didn't have to waste time recharging our phones because the Disney app eats our battery.
