I'm so sad

Son, looking at your picture, I have been going there since before you were born. I know EXACTLY what the experience has been. For us, it is still awesome. Sorry that it isn't for you. Please stop going then, and you won't have to post about your bad experiences anymore.

And if you actually read my post, you would see that I completely acknowledge that some people have negative experiences. We just don't need to hear about the same incident in every thread. Move along and GET OVER IT.

I'm not your kid, grandpa. My father is a Marine, author, and not a sensitive wimp who can't stand other people expressing their views. And if it wasn't that great then we wouldn't be going again in September. And IF you knew how to read you would see where I've stated that we're taking a break from it in September. Take your own advice, move along and get over it if you don't want to read about it.

I spent 22 years in the military. What have you done for this country????? I have zero problem with people expressing their views. Just have a problem with people beating a dead horse.

I was in the US Army, Infantry. Big f'ing whoop. If you have a problem then either PM me or see me in the parks in September. I'm no longer going to cloud up this thread with this banter. I'm not hard to reach.

I agree. We need to get back to the topic on hand that Disney sucks. :D

With how Disney is behaving towards guests these days is it all that surprising?, What's simply amazing in a bad way are all the newcomers to the board posting about their less than MAGICal experiences at Disney stuff like that is not what ANY of us here really want to see.
Except the original poster started the thread and never came back. Probably a troll looking for exactly what they got. The vast majority of the negative posts are from the same people who post the same stuff in various threads here. I'm not saying everyone doesn't have a right to express their views in as many threads as they want, but I also don't think it's most of the new posters here who are negative.

I appreciate your refrigerator story and understand why that would turn you off from wanting to return to WDW. You have some really bad luck with your stays. If half the stuff that happened to you happened to me on one of my stays I'd be very unlikely to go back. I think I've probably said this to you before, but the DVC resale market is hot still.

I don't concern myself with whether other guests are having a negative experience at Disney. My focus is always on my own experience and plans. If you don't think Disney World or Disneyland is giving you adequate return for your $$$$, don't go again. The one question I have is why those who experience dirty rooms, beds, bathrooms, broken appliances, etc., etc. never post a picture? Why not provide photo evidence of these situations to the resort manager, or even forward on to the WDC? It might just produce a resolution to some of these issues.

It has everything to do with DVC. It is a post that demonstrates dissatisfaction with Disney, however, being a DVC member, to maintain your DVC value, your options to vacation elsewhere are limited, as you are paying each month to Disney. I understand some experiences will be better than others, but if the current trend continues, DVC members might possibly place less value on their memberships.
I don't pay a dime to Disney monthly. I paid in full for all 3 of my contracts and the only thing that limits where I vacation is my imagination. Are you bitter because you can't afford the monthly payment? If so you should defiantly not join. For a long time Disney Cast Members went above and beyond bowing down to a lot of entitled morans who still treated them like crap and took advantage of them and Disney's willingness to make the customer always right. By some of the posts I read here I can only imagine how some bitter nasty members of this board treat them. I think the OP went in looking for negatives and found them. Maybe there was a reason the CM weren't friendly to this DVC member.

Yes the DVC resale market is still hot but my family still enjoys WDW visits, So while I'm the one paying I'm merely one vote in the vacation election process and I'm outvoted so... That being said even so my pixie dusted family and extended family members are commenting on the downgrades recently. Much to the amazement of many here I STILL have a good time when I visit WDW, But that does not mean I'm blind to the faults and I do take the time to write letters to Disney about particularly bad experiences/facilities (for those I include pictures).

One of the worst ones I've encountered recently was a swarm of yellow jackets around the outdoor soda machine area at OKW, I'm an adult and know when to leave (with yellow jackets that's IMMEDIATELY if not SOONER) but a little kid refilling their soda could be badly hurt because they just don't know how dangerous a bunch of yellow jackets can be. I grabbed the manager for that one that situation should have never been allowed to occur in the first place.

The things that bug me MOST are customer service hospitality and safety 101 things, IRL I'm a corporate 'fixer' I make customers problems with our product go away so Customer Service IS my job even though I'm usually dealing with senior and C level management.

My only concern is that last sentence. In the customer service field there's never a reason to treat someone differently than you would the next customer, barring physical altercations.

I hear what you are saying about the family vacation aspect. I also assumed you must still get some enjoyment out of your visits or why would you go back. I think it might just be that you visit a lot more frequently than I do, but it seems like you have a lot of problems there or at least a lot more than I have on my trips. I'm not doubting your stories. I'm just saying if I had the number of problems you do on your trips to WDW I'd probably never go back. Everything isn't perfect at WDW, it's far from it, but at least when it comes to CM interactions I would say the good far outweigh the bad for me. There are always going to be good and bad employees at any company. On average I still think they do pretty well.

The yellow jacket thing is a problem. We get them in my yard every year. I learned the hard (and painful) way that it's a situation best handled by a professional. Kudos to you for actually going to management to make sure someone was aware of the issue. I wonder how many others saw the issue but ignored it. The bigger question is did they take care of the problem? Issues happen, but if you report them and then nobody takes action then it's a big problem.

This is true, but the CMs are only human. Maybe they were just having a bad moment or a bad day and the person just caught them at the wrong time. It's expected for the price we are all paying for a trip to WDW that we get good customer service and that should usually come with a smile.

Expressing an opinion is hardly trolling. One mans dead horse is another's pertinent point. I think what's upsetting to some is that formerly loyal mousekateers have become increasingly critical of current WDW operations. This is very unsettling for Dust Loyalist storm troopers.

I blame the proliferation of alcohol.

As to WDW if my family / extended family is having a good time I'm having a good time and yes we went 2-3x per year,

The thing about the 'issues' is they are RECENT in that the problems started around late 2012 when LILO came online and have just snowballed over time and much of it is driven by Disney's increasingly data driven strategy for running their parks which in many cases actively PREVENT CM's from providing good service. This of course also drives the front desk CM's attitude because they are now going to have to handle a blizzard of paperwork in addition to their normal responsibilities. Unfortunately I can understand the CM's attitude because so many decisions which once were in the front line CM's wheelhouse are now made by the computer and cannot be overridden by a front line CM so they are helpless and frustrated.

In the past a failed appliance would have simply been replaced from a pool of spares onsite, Now the replacement needs to be requested, approved by a manager or multiple managers if it's over a certain dollar value, Ordered and delivered from a central warehouse and finally installed by the hapless CM who is the victim of this convoluted process, How I ask does the GUEST benefit from this process ?, Disney of course benefits by stocking fewer spares and has better control over shrinkage but the guest does not benefit at all from this.

Personally, I don't go to disney for the cm interactions. I could actually care less if I talk to one cm on my trip but I could see how it could bother some people if that's their thing. Just like any company....there will be some good energetic employees and there will be some bad eggs, especially with the lower wages Disney pays. It's just how it is. This reminds me of the thread about not going to a restaurant if the waiter was bad, even if the food was amazing. I am going to the restaurant because it is fun and has great food....I am not worried about being waited on hand and foot. To each their own though I guess
