Well, maybe not yet, but it's been raining all week here. The thunder is rolling outside as I type. So how's the weather in your neck of the woods?

Here in SC its sunny and hot... not as hot as the World was last week though... so the storms have picked up again? Seems like you can set your watch on FL thunderstorms.. around 5-6:00 PM seems like the time the bottom always drops out. Last week the weather was pretty good cept at 5:45 when we went into dinner, came out and everything was wet- but the sun was out. Its that wierd FL weather!

Actually, I'm CLOSE to Florida, but I'll be in south GA until my internship starts week after next....heh, I updated my "Location" a little early, but can ya blame me?

Still, I think it's kinda similar to the Florida situation here, since it's been hot for so long and I live right on the coast.

Damned electrical surges have re-booted my comp twice in the last 30 minutes! But I shall not be deterred from my pointless posts! :D

I take it thats an internship down @ WDW? If so what division did you apply to be in? I mean like custodial or operations or something like that?

Yep, it's the College Program at the World....I'm gonna be an Operations CM. No clue what I'll be doin' yet, but I can't wait to find out.

Well I hope you get a position thats enjoyable to you. Was talking to a girl on the program and sounds like you don't have a chance to change your assignment. Her friend got stuck taking tickets at Blizzard Beach for 8 Mos and quit. Yuck! Any particular park or attraction or area you were hoping for? I'm looking at the program in a couple of years myself.

I'm kinda hoping I'll get an attraction job inside the MK...it's my favorite of the parks.

But I'm not too anxious over where I get placed; I know that there are some jobs that are probably less "magical" than others, but I've had unfulfilling jobs before, and a lot of it's what you make of it. I'm just looking forward to being in that environment for 5 months. (Besides, at least I'm not doing Custodial.) :animwink:

I would definitely advise you to apply if you get the chance, but of course, I'm not a real authority on the subject yet; I'll be glad to tell you about my experience on the program once I'm doing it.

Thanks a lot! I appreciate the offer. Yea, I'll be a freshman in college this fall and I'm looking at taking a semester off to do the program. My university recognizes the internship so thats good, but I dunno when the best time to do it is. My parents are wanting me to do it later in college, but I dunno. Maybe sophomore or junior year was what I was thinking. I'd wanna be @ MK as well although I hear MGM has a really laid-back atmosphere-compared to MK since its the busiest out of all four. I'd love to work in World Showcase in Epcot cept the only place I could would be at American Adventure! Did you audition when they came to your school? What was that like? You'll also have to tell me what the housing situation is like, I hear its pretty crowded. Small price to pay though, right?

I'm going into my Senior year after I get back, so I've waited until kind of late in the game. I don't know if it matters all that much when you go, to be honest. If you wanna have a free reign at PI and take advantage of all the clubs, then waiting until you're 21 might be good, but if you're only 18 now, that's a while to wait. You can't think about it too much, really--you just have to do it.

I interviewed at my school ("audition" might be too strong a word). I don't know if it's the same everywhere, but with the guy I talked to, he seemed intent on asking people questions relating to their majors, asking them why they thought they'd be a good addition to the Disney cast, and tesing their enthusuiasm (and putting them on the spot a little). He asked me why I (as a Journalism major) would be better-suited than a Hospitality or Business major, and then asked me a question about what I'd do in a situation with a kid separated from its parents. I think I sold him by telling him I was just interested in learning more about people and just interacting with them on the first question, and then just gave a common-sense anwer to the second one. ("Keep kid calm...contact security.") I know he asked a friend of mine who's a Marketing major to "sell" an inkpen to him, so just be prepared for stuff like that, and make sure to show your enthusiasm. I think a BIG thing with them is weeding out the folks who are for real from the ones who wondered in for the donuts and free stickers.

As for housing...yeah, expect a lot of flatmates, but I think it's worth it. Having lived in a dorm for the past year, a real apartment is awesome to me...and you can limit your roomies somewhere between 3-5, I think, so yo don't have to be in a house with 6 people, if you're willing to pay more rent.

OK, I've blabbed on long enough; anything else you wanna know, ask here or just PM me sometime.

What's so bad about that?

Can't you turn the heater off? Won't you be getting wet in the pool anyway?

Mowing? What's mowing? I haven't pulled my tractor out in weeks ... not that that's a bad thing or anything. ;)

Turkey leg boy, it's too cold to be in the swimmy pool! :(

Last week the air was warm enough, but the pool water was too cold for me. :(

I can't win.

hey, maybe I'll find a nice pool that's the right temperature in Florida next weekend! :)

What's wrong with you people?

Afraid of a little cold.

I went swimming in Biloxi, Mississippi at night in February in a non-heated pool with air temperature of about 50 degrees.

:D
