Congratulations! :sohappy:

Here's a hint to make your wife happy. Every night before we went to bed my husband would fill a small cooler with juice and bottled water, along with some snacks...cookies, fruit, etc. and leave it in the nursery. He would also set the radio to classical music, and because it was wintertime, he would put a quilt on my rocking chair. That way, I could be comfortable (and get extra fluid) while I was nursing the baby. If you're using formula, you could make sure she has a can and clean bottle in the nursery. (we live in a 2 story house, so it saved a trip downstairs); better yet, take at least one of the nighttime feedings...midnight, so she can sleep through, 2AM or 4AM(everyone's favorites) or the 6AM. (by the way, those hours are approximate) And keep telling yourself that it really is only 2 years, at the most, before he'll sleep all night! (it just feels like 20!)

Congratulations! You're life is changed forever but the experience is going to be such a positive part of your life. Sleep deprivation was the hardest part of our newborn. Since he came in this world 9lbs.+ he was a hungry fellow. I would go to sleep at 8pm and Don would stay up for the 11pm feeding then he would go to bed. Then I would get up at 2am, having had six hours sleep. Don would wake up at 5am and go to work, then I would awake at 6am to go to work. It was rough at times but before long Jr. was sleeping all night.

Thank You everyone! We named him James Michael after his dad and grandad respectively. As soon as I get the scanner fired up I'll download some pics. I happen to catch a nasty case of bronchitis while at the hospital so It's kinda hard right now isolating myself from my wife and baby but I'm making it work. 8lbs and 14 ozs. blonde blue eyed perfect baby boy. I was scared at first but after looking in his eyes and seeing a little piece of me I am fine. It's a feeling I wish everyone could feel, truely the best day of my life! It was the first time I ever cried from happiness:cry: I'm all vaclempt.

Congratulations on the addition to the family. Everyone is right about things changing now, but it is a good change.

I took my turns changing diapers, washing bottles, giving baths, feeding, and would not take anything for that expierence. My only advice would be to give him a hug every day and let him know that you love him and will always be there when he needs you. Our "little" boy will be 10 in February, and the time goes bo SO fast. Cherish every day!!

What a sweet Husband! I didn't even know they made them like that (hides from all the men throwing things at me hehe). So tell me, where can I find one like that? :animwink:

WOW! I AM impressed! My husband, dearly as I love him, slept blissfully through each and every one of both our kids' nighttime feedings (I nursed them both). In the morning, he would wake dewy-eyed and refreshed, and exclaim, "Isn't it great how the baby sleeps through the night already?" I would snarl something unintelligibile and stuff my head back under a pillow - and he would get the hint and make breakfast for all!

Congrats... I know you won't believe me at 4 am when you are getting up to change something that should be sleeping but kids are what keep you young. Until they become teenagers and make you grow old before your time.. Congrats! Welcome to the Wide Wonderful World of Parenthood.
