Today I am a non-smoker. My 1st day so I need some help. I figure I will save $ 1464.75 in the next year if I don't smoke. Any suggestions on what do do with it? I think reading some of your suggestions will curb my cravings!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

It is not an easy thing to do, and you deserve all the support you can get.

If I had "found" money, I would be on a plane to sunny central Florida, and....well, you know the rest!

Wonderful! Hang tough! Don't give in. Put the money in an account, draw some interest on it, then use it for something really fun! Several good suggestions have been given (although I'm not sure if the Triumph is your "thing").

Hi moonchild---congratulations on quitting smoking. It is an expensive habit, and wow, the money you'll save will more than pay for a very nice vacation, as your "reward".

Best Wishes :)

I quit just about this time last year. Were it not for the Nicotrol patches I either would have failed or killed someone.

Anything you can do to keep you mind off of smoking will help. Any activity that you enjoy that takes a lot of concentration. As an example, I played my drums a lot, since I couldn't play and smoke at the same time.

Hang in there. It's not so bad after the first week.

Good luck and congrats.

Congrats!

Maybe you can start saving, and by next month have enough to make a deposit on your next WDW trip. Set a date to make the reservation! [Then after the reservation is made, you have to give it up if you start back!!]

One thing I forgot to mention. Smoking a pack a day burns roughly 200 calories a day.

So. if you don't want to become a real "big fat quitter" (as I did by gaining 20 lbs.) start excercising now! :animwink:

The potential for weight gain is definitely the biggest downside to quitting.

Of course No2 is right. There are also Nortons, Buells, Ducatis, and maybe a Vincent fixer-upper available in that price range.:D

If you do have an idea what you would like to spend the money on, you might want to put a picture in your wallet. Then you could look at it if you are tempted to buy a pack.

Congratulations- and good luck! $1500 a year and you'll pobably livelonger to spend it, too! That would be enough to make me quit.

:sohappy: Congratulations! Start a Disney trip fund and make your reservations now! I believe after about 3 days your body will be rid of nicotine and your success in continuing will require determination. Get a plan! Exercise! Get your mind off smoking. Being an ex-smoker I know it can be done! Enjoy the added years to your life!

Be strong!

We had a woman come in today who had 2 teeth drop out of her mouth. Boom- roots and all. They just fell out! I see that few times a year from smokers.

If you ever feel like you want a cigarette, talk to a person with reeeally bad perio disease. It is, for me, the worst smell in the entire world. 2 masks don't even begin to filter it. It fills the whole office. I feel sorry for the people who have it but that's what smoking will do for you. And they can wiggle their teeth with their tongues.

Am I helping? Maybe not so much.

Anyway, congratulations on making it through the first day! We're here if you need us!
