Iger out in 2018

TWDC will look to buy Netflix, they'll demand 100b and Reed Hastings takes over as CEO. That's my wild and crazy guess at the new CEO of TWDC.

That move would be a good one for Disney as they would then have a CEO who actually GETS the internet and understands that customers need nurturing (after the giant cluster about splitting DVD and Net delivery).

I thought Netflix would be a better fit for Comcast, but I could certainly see the government having a problem with that.
I could see Comcast trying that one anyway, would be another of those weird bits of irony as Netflix gains a big old massive piece of the Disney movie catalog starting in September, I believe.

Good riddance, but even though Iger may have been bad, the guy replacing him could be ten times worse.

I wasn't here when Eisner left, so can someone who was help explain what the general feeling was like?
I was there. I said that Eisner leaving was a big mistake and rides such as Splash Mountain and Tower of Terror would be a thing of the past. I was right.

Michael Eisner had about two decades at the helm. The first 10 years were very very very very good according to most Disney fanboyz and girlz.

The second half (in a nutshel)l was when things got sloppy and micro-managed and dumbed down. He lowered the Disney World standards too a point that anything above that would seem higher in quality.

And once Iger leaves, will Dreamfinder and (the real) Figment be allowed out of Time Out?

They've thought long and hard about what what they did, Bob-honest!

And here's a wild idea: can our new fearless leader be someone who doesn't respond with actual laughter when asked about a proper Song of the South release? Crazy, I know.
It's like the Figment comics are some sorta of prison for the duo.

TWO MORE YEARS till we get OUR DISNEY BACK.
Honestly, let's hope not. Let's not forget that prior to Iger, Roy Disney himself was mounting a save Disney campaign with an objective to get rid of Eisner. The company was treating Walt Disney World as mature asset / cash cow, that no longer was in need of any additional major Investments. Frankly I do not want to go back to that.

Eisner was a delicious cream cake, compared to the toilet feacal matter that Iger has given us.

Let's be honest for the first ten years IGER did nothing either in Orlando. It's only now he's green lit a few projects (probably because he's leaving and won't have to pay for it).

^^^Eh. Disagree. Eisners second half tenure was so bad it lead to a revolt. Iger has not and is not going to. Iger fixed DCA, improved hong kong ( note the word "improved" and not "fixed". I agree Hong Kong is not fixed. And now has turned his attention to Walt Disney World with several multibillion-dollar projects. I understand you don't like him and I'm not going to try to convince you to like him. But the last years of eisner were terrible and nothing worth going back too. Perhaps to slowly.... Iger has changed course at wdw from where Eisner left off. I know you're not willing to but I'm of the opinion that he was focused on fixing the bigger problems of DCA and Hong Kong first period.

The best way to explain how I feel about this is by using my own imagination as an example. On another thread, I imagined an ski-themed resort next to Blizzard Beach with an ice skating rink and an indoor ski slope (like they have in Dubai). Additionally, I proposed a ski lift connecting the area to AK, possibly to a snow-capped land like Antartica.

My point is that the CEO of Disney needs to be dreaming up these types of things, not me. Eisner actually walked around the property and took notes of things he dreamt up and passed those notes to Imagineering to develop.

Iger doesn't care. He doesn't do that. His imagination stretches as far as the company's latest IP acquisitions, such as Star Wars and Pixar. That's okay, but he's clearly not the imaginative type. Even at that, he had failed to bring Marvel to the parks.

We all must try and remember that there is so much more to TWDC then theme parks. Eisner had just scratched the surface of the expansion, he perhaps had more time to wonder around the parks with his ideas, which I doubt were ever actually acted upon directly.
