What you say is true I agree, but I also agree with Poly Lover. The tourists stunts that I see everyday are beyond belief. Not a day goes by that we don't have an accident on property. I understand people don't know property and make mistakes but it doesn't matter were you're from if there are multiple signs saying No U turn and you do it anyway! And get hit! That's got nothing to do with being unfamiliar that's just being stupid. And the next big one is speed, people race around property and realize their turn is coming up and they just cut the wheel! I've seen roll overs from this. What a way to ruin a nice vacation.

This is exactly what happened in front of us like 20 times in Florida in October but it was much worse in Tampa/St Pete, where we visited family, then in orlando. Not saying tourists drive great, I'm from Vegas, I've seen all the craziness but Florida drivers were something else. Unless they were all tourists...possible I guess.

Don't worry about how the planners get paid, DW and I thought about renewing our vows at Disney but the $15,000 MINIMUM fee put the kibosh on that quickly.

We paid a lot less than that for our wedding.. but it was at sea breeze on a Tuesday night

I think sometimes it comes down to the decisions that are made. Not everyone is happy with them. The money that it costs to go there, the cost of eating there, it is definitely worth complaining about. I do the same thing with sports games. Why are hockey games an atrocious price here in Toronto? It bothers me. Do I still pay if I want to see a game? Yeah, the odd time.

I guess the bottom line is, we're suckers. All of us. It would be nice though if some loyalty would be given back to the guests. There is no reason tickets need to be over $100 for a day at the Magic Kingdom. None. Or $15 to park.

After reading your post, I guess I realize why I have become cynical toward Disney. The second time I went I was 20 and dying to see EPCOT which opened 2 years prior, I had little money, but scraped up airfare and booked a cheap hotel on 192. Tickets were twenty something, but a friend told me to go and outside the 7-11 they had attraction ticket booths that had 4 day tickets that still had 2 days left on them and when you arrived at the gate they stamped the ticket and in you go. Everything was so magical, they made you feel wonderful and even a broke kid like me, thought the ($20 something) ticket was a steal. You never felt like you were being squeezed for money, but now that I am older and can easily afford the price, I feel like they have their hand in my pocket at every turn. I am sorry my kids didn't get to see the real Disney, I mean before the people with edible disabilities run you over in scooters, but I guess it falls also on our decline in civility as a culture as well..

Some are tourist, but FL is home to some bad drivers, get on I-4 and you will see beat up cars doing eighty weaving lanes inches from cars, you know they are FL, because those beat up cars could make a 500 mile trip

WDW is the only place I can go where time doesn’t matter..I can get to my FP or not...Crowds don’t bother me...I enjoy watching people enjoying their magical trip....

Miami is worse, and they drive very nice cars. Not confined to Orlando. As a FL resident I stay off the interstate as much as possible, and try to drive when others aren’t.

Then you have teams like the Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlins in that they can make World Series appearances and the fans still wont care.

What? When did they get baseball teams in Florida?

Late to the party, had to comment on these posts.

I had season tickets to the Marlins for many years..I vividly remember opening day after they won the World Series- half empty stadium.
In fairness, it wasn’t really the same team.. but I remember cringing when a little girl said “Mommy, I love coming to baseball games. The cheerleaders are so pretty! I want to be a baseball cheerleader when I grow up.”
The dad asked if the daughter liked the game, “Nope. I just like the cheerleaders.”
Dad laughingly replied, “We all do.”

Cheerleading in baseball is the most stupid thing ever. Guess they gotta fill the stands somehow... especially in Miami.

It's seems that most of the hate for disney is from people who have been disney fans for 10 year's or more (give or take a few years) and remembers what it was like in the good Ole days when disney was not so expensive and crowded. I have only been a fan for a few year's now, you can't miss what you never had.

In SoFla the French Canadians are horrible drivers. When I see a Quebec license plate- I move 4 lanes over. Worst offenders ever.

However, there’s plenty of US license plates, including Florida, that also belong to terrible drivers.. but Quebec, The Worst.

I think the response to the Disney Parks is generational. That is, you speak of those who have been to the parks for years, in my case, starting in 1980. The parks have changed, attractions are gone, the food has not improved and the quantity is shrinking. and it dances on.
Others may have missed the attractions long gone and the shrinking of the food amounts as well as the climbing prices. For you this is all new and you have no example to look back on unless you look at the old brochures.

The forum has comments that relate to the early park years and folks like you see them. That is a gone by era and won't return and you shouldn't be too concerned. The DISNEY you will see will be fresh, new and in todays style of magic which I assume you will enjoy throughout your visit. You won't even notice the the lack of cast members or how rude they may be, or the small food portions or the higher prices, you never saw the earlier versions.
Thats what they count on and that is how it works. It used to be the Disney family but today it is business, and as a business it will move on.
SO enjoy your trip, you certainly will, in todays style of magic.

Yes the Disney of Today is all about the 'one and done' visitor, not cultivating the repeat visitor

1) Michigan
2) New Jersey
3) New York
4) North Carolina
