Here's a fun question:

If you could go back in time to a specific date or year only to visit the Disney parks, when would you choose and why?

For me, I would love to go back and visit circa late 1986/early 1987 because that's when two of my favorite long-gone rides crossed paths. Spaceship Earth with Cronkite (and the sorely missed "Tomorrow's Child") had just begun around summer of '86.... and I could still hop over to Magic Kingdom and catch "If You Had Wings" before it flew away in June of '87.

Anyone else have a favorite Disney year they would love to go back to?

I agree -- I'd go back just to do IYHW!

New Year's Day, 1996.

Why that date? Because I would be able to experience Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Dreamflight, The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter, the original Journey Into Imagination, Horizons, and World of Motion (which closed on January 2nd, 1996) all over again. :)

Very nice call, NemoRocks78!

For me, it would be between sometime in late 1995, so that I could ride everything that I want to again, or October 1, 1983, just so that I could see Horizons open, and see everybody's reaction the first time they rode it. Not that they're what I'd be watching! I'd probably go to '95, because the lines would be shorter.

I would go back to the early years of Disneyland when Walt used to walk around the park! That's when, and that's why :)

I would love to go back to the Summer of '88... the very first time I ever went to WDW. It'd be neat to have the same experience I had back then as a more mature (ahem...) person. And I'm just DYING to go on 20K Leages again.

I'd travel to several points in time:
Disneyland opening
1983(for JII and Horizons)
New Year's 2000 (for ToN)
and the last day of ToD.

I'd visit Epcot in the mid 80's to see the original Journey Into Imagination/Image Works again, plus Horizons and World of Motion.

I'd go to Magic Kingdom in the late 70's again (my 1st visit was in 1979) so I could see Mickey Mouse Revue again before it was shipped to Japan. Same goes for Disneyland so I could see America Sings again.

I agree! I saw a picture of Walt and some young boys outside the Disneyland Jungle Cruise in a recent issue of the Disney Magazine. How amazing would that have been--to "discuss" with Mr. Disney himself your favorite things about his park!

Other than that, I too would either want to go back to MK's opening day or to a day in the late 80's/early 90's. Then I could experience JII and WoL and all the other amazing attractions that we've lost/are losing.
