If you could expand CA to the western lot where Paradise Pier Hotel is, what would be the theme?

The idea of building a bridge over a public street for a theme park expansion would be incredibly expensive, potentially unsafe, and just plain unrealistic to achieve.

Having to change the resort plans aside, why would a bridge be a problem. They have a bridge in Downtown Disney already and need one for the Eastern Gateway.

Some parks have hidden bridges to hide service roads. I know they have a few in Tokyo Disneysea and you really don’t notice them, Im sure you could do something similar in DCA

But to get to the Simba Parking area, you have to go over, or under. a major Public Road, Disneyland Drive. 6 lanes plus turn lanes, and lots of buried public utilities under the road. No way to hide a bridge.

Nothing really has to be confined to anything. The thing to keep in mind is that anything is possible if you put enough time, effort and money into it. The DLSP doesn't include the property that PPH is currently on, but if Disney really wanted it amended, it could be amended and changed.

The bigger question is whether it is worth the cost, and there the answer is probably no. The idea of building a bridge over a public street for a theme park expansion would be incredibly expensive, potentially unsafe, and just plain unrealistic to achieve. Ultimately whatever space or expansion they could get for DCA over in the Simba lot, wouldn't recoup the extraordinary cost in any reasonable length of time.

So yeah, while it can be a fun little what if exercise, DCA will not expand into the Simba lot.
True, my question was more about the hotel being expanded not expanding DCA into the Simba lot. I don't think that would happen. But maybe they could knock down PPH and rebuild it on its current land and add square footage into the simba lot. That was my question if that was possible under the current DLSP Plan.

You could make the bridge not feel like a bridge when you‘re in the park - place shops either side like the ponte vechio in Florence or embrace the bridge aspect - go full cali and bring back the golden gate and theme the simba lot to San Francisco 😀

I realise neither are likely as they would be very very costly and probably not practical but its fun at times to armchair imagineer

Could they lower the roadway like they did for the DTD walkway over DL Drive? Or build a tunnel from the backstage gate between Boardwalk Pizza & western edge of Incredicoaster that would bring you in around the entrance to the Simba lot.

The cut away was done when there are was closed for through traffic, and folks were detoured between Magic Way and Katella.

No way to detour today, and the street is too busy for a multi-month closure.

As for tunneling, you would have to go at least 25 feet deep or more, depending where the public utilities are located. (Water, Sewer, gas, electrical, etc. Not cheap, but doable. It was looked into in regards to the Eastern Gateway and Harbor Blvd, and quickly removed from the options due to costs.

How about this. Get rid of the current monorail and use newly free land for Fantasy land expansion in Subs/Autopia area. Expand onto Paradise Pier Hotel lot and theme it as Star Wars on planet Endor. Lots of tall trees/wooded area kinda like Northern Cali, A couple awesome ride and a new monorail system that links the Endor themed land with the Galaxies Edge. Kinda like the harry potter train at Universal FL but with a Star Wars theme going from planet to planet. Keep the Downtown Disney stop and that would be PLanet Earth.

Instead of answering with what I would WANT in the Simba Lot I’m going to be a little more realistic and pick from possible options that they would actually consider in the Simba Lot based on the IP they own and what they have built at parks around the world.

1. A Star Wars Land based on the original OT. They learn from some of their mistakes and make this land more whimsical/ fun and maybe even throw in a coaster.

2. A Marvel land based on some or one of the non earth based locations. They don’t have to pretend we are “really” at DCA at an expo.

3. Pandora - if the sequels are big hits which I imagine they will be.

4. Mini World Show case or similar concept where locals can come spend money on food and alcohol. With a much smaller body of water or perhaps elaborate fountain in the middle. Think an outdoor Caruso designed mall meets World Showcase. Perhaps one or two rides as anchors. Or perhaps no rides at all. Depends on what the new ticket, pass system will be in the future.

what do you you all think about this idea I had.

Convert Paradise Pier hotel lot into Endor themed star wars land. Orange section are bridges over roads. 1 connect expansion to CA, would need to get rid of paradise garden grille to accomodate. the other would connect to northern lot, which would be new hotel/modified disney quest (red square) that gives guest direct access into park. The green are purple edges designate green for trees/fencing and purple for backstage access roads running around perimeter. I cut and pasted the harry potter rides hagrids motorbike challens and forbidden journey to give an idea on how to use the space. I would like a speeder bike themed ride similar to hagrids, another major e ticket where forbidden journey is. The lime green circle are giant trees that would be all over the land (it is themd as endor) and the white desgnate rope bridges connecting them all together. Imagine tarzans treehouse on steroids, with pathways in the sky criss crossing the land among the trees. Theres also plenty of space left for another major ride and some food options and stores. I put in a monorail station on the right side and used a yellow line to show its new path, connecting to the original path going through california adventure. (i have more on the revised overall monorail path coming later but it would go from endor, to the main entrances to the parks, and then to a new galaxies edge expansion, effectively transporting you from planet to planet and park to park.)
