If you could change one show effect of Illuminations what would it be?

For me it would be the fountains. Keep them but change it to the movable versions. The kind that are used at the Bellagio hotel and other places.

I agree with Raven-I still can't figure out what is being displayed on the globe and I have seen it 4 or 5 times!!!!! Other than that I wouldn't change anything else. The music is great- I end up on the verge of tears every time I hear "We Move On." It is a beautiful song that I believe will go down as a Disney park classic.

I miss the old version from the early 90's that had the music going to the beat of the lights at each country with each country getting its own turn being lit up one at a time to a music themed to that particular country and everyone else being darkened until their turn.

I agree with the above, but the other thing I was shocked to find is that absolute sparing use of the lasers. The original Illuminations really showcased the lasers and made for an absolutely unique and incredible show.

I also miss the old 90s version. And I can't see what's on the globe either. I only recently figured out the continents are shown. It always just appears as a blur of color. (I admit my eyes aren't the greatest at distances).
And I've seen it several times from various angles. It is far and away the worst nighttime show at WDW.
Heck, I like Spectromagic better, and I hate Spectromagic since it replaced Main Street Electrical Parade.
Only good nighttime show now is Fantasmic. And it is GREAT!

I would change the Ball...horrible part of the show. We often that that time to chit chat about the fireworks we just saw or eat our funnel cake or Kak :p i Gori

Although I think the inferno barge is a cool effect, I think its brightness takes away from the fireworks/lasers during the first part of the show.

The globe/music only part could be more entertaining, maybe Bellagio-style fountains would help.

I would definately bring the fountains closer to the guests. Not so close that they cover up any other show effects, but closer so as to be a stronger presence. And, oh yeah, make them Bellagio-style.

Yep. I watched it from the waterwheel in Morrocco last week and could hardly ever make out what was on the globe during it's looooooong sequence. I think I may have seen a tiger and some kid in a third world country at some point. I dunno.
Anyway, the ball was cute and all during the Millennium celebration but it's time for it to go. Put it in a crate and mail that sucker to Tokyo. The lasers were hardly used and I was dissapointed that they're STILL using the reflections of earth music.

I never faced the globe viewing problem. I've always been able to tell what's on the screen. Granted there have been times where I couldn't see it because of smoke or other things in the middle, but have always been able to see it.

One thing they could do is keep the globe but use it only for the finale. In the middle portion of the show with just the globe and the fountains change the fountains to the Belligio style and add water screens that circle the globe and use the water screens to display the video on and then suddenly make the globe appear in the middle by turning off the water screens. Notice a water theme in what I am suggesting. All the stuff that I suggest is stuff that Disney has used before. Water Screens in the Fantasmic show, and water fountains at DisneySea (Can't think of any in Disney world or land).

What do you guys think of this idea?

I really dislike the lull in the middle. I understand that the globe is trying to tell the story, but really... of those people out there, maybe 1% will actually 'get' the storyline.

As one of my favorite movies goes:

Perry: How does that [song] begin again?
Gabriel: The verse?
Perry: Yeah -- How does it go?
Gabriel: [starts singing]
Perry: Cut it! No one wants to hear that.
Gabriel: Cut the verse?
Perry: Honey, get it out of there... just go to the chorus. That's the fun part.
Gabriel: But what about all the setup?
Perry: Gabriel! Songwriters have been doing the verse-chorus thing forever. It's tired. Be a maverick, During the verse, we wait, we wait, we are waiting for the chorus. Just give us what we want, Chorus, Chorus, Chorus!!

1. As mentioned above, make more use of the countries lighting effects (and bring back the still image projectors for each country!)

2. LASERS!! Its no good having state of the art multi colour laser units if you can`t see the beam... the original Illumiunations had great green lasers that were always visible (anyone remember being on the Contemporary`s viewing platfrom during Illuminations... the beam that went right over the roof all the way from World Showcase?)

I agree. The lasers are such 80's technology. Replace them with high end media projection and a lot of moving lites.

I would like more going on around you. Let Epcot use the perimeter shots that the MK uses. It would be so much better if it was more immersive.

I like it the way it is, except for it needs more lasers and how about some fireworks being shot from different places around World Showcase. I'll bet there is some insurance reason they can't.

No they can set fireworks off from all around world showcase but tend to keep that for 4th july and new years eve. I dont know if uve noticed but when illuminations start and the firework comes out from britain the path underneath the firework is roped off. They would need to do this elsehwere if the firework was goin directly overhead of the crowds, which is mayb why they dont do this all around world showcase and more than once in the show. As at the start they can bring down the rope and let folk past.

I agree with you tho that it would be good if they did that more and also we NEED MORE LASERS!!! Some nights we hav seen the show they use hardly any, mayb just the one from Mexico, but some nights they will use more.

Sorry but i think that is a bit harsh when you say that maybe 1% will get the story but you do. Mean understand it as well and i think that there are many people out there that will understand and get what the story is traying to say.

Sorry, it was a typo... was supposed be 10%... but even still, only a small amount of people really get the story that IllumiNations is trying to tell. Most people don't really pay attention to the globe, or if they do, they're like, "oooh, globe with pictures" but don't really know what the images are trying to convey.
