If Walt was still alive...

He would crush the first humans that he saw as the alien DNA that was pumping through his arteries filled him with physical power, rage, and the urge to dominate. Walt would then take control of the planet through mind control waves which are generated in machines buried beneath the monorail footers. The rest, as they say, would be history. One interesting tidbit - in what the deranged/alien Walt would regard as a magnanimous move, he would force the few thousand humans that survive his purging as few slices of chocolate cake for breakfast each morning before they started their days in the alien grist mill. For reasons that would never be understood, a dim awareness of the Bill Cosby chocolate cake sketch infiltrated his cyber sleep.

That is simply not true. There are certain characteristics and traits that remained rather constant. The pattern of constantly picking up new hobbies is a big one.

Fine he liked hobbies. But how he would run his business in currents times is anybody's guess. I mean I get that it is fun to speculate and guess what Walt would do now but when I hear people saying things as if they truly know I laugh. We have no clue how he would react and what he would do.

And he still might like Starbucks.....

At the time of Walt's death, Disneyland was the only park that was "complete"

Today we have Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, California Adventure, DisneySea, Walt Disney Studios, Hong Kong Disneyland, and now Shanghai on the way.

Walt would be amazed if he were alive.

He'd also probably say "What took you so long?"

He'd probably ask "why in the heck are you guys playing around with a kiddie coaster for 2 1/2 years while Universal finishes 2 expansions, a make over and 2-3 new rides"?

The thing is, after Disneyland, Walt Disney was no longer interested in theme parks, so I doubt your theory would be correct.

His hobbies very much were his business. Even like with Starbucks, there plenty of evidence to come to the reasonable conclusion that he would not like it, namely his desire for control and the gradual movement of Disney controlling more and more of the operation of Disneyland. I think he'd be aghast that not only was Disney still just fixated on most of the same things from when he died, but that they were letting others control the story despite the Company's size and resources. We can't know for certain, but we can make educated guesses with some being more reasonable than others.

Just because they weren't his primary interest anymore doesn't mean he wouldn't be impressed. I mean, the man worked on ride concepts for Disneyland until the end, so I doubt it was something he was done with, even if other interests took the place.

Building more Disneylands wasn't something out of reach for Walt. Plenty of people would have ponied up the cash for more.

You guys have made my night. I would say I love y'all but (aside from not knowing any of you outside of this forum) I really don't like monopoly.

However I dig the silver-ized avatars. So go on with your bad selves. Can I join the club?
Oh, dear. Do you want to be part of a thread where Meg is always to blame, sharks and narwhals can talk, rhubarb is a holy word, we are forever questing with chickens, and your post count is guaranteed to dramatically increase within three hours or your money back?

If so, then yes, you can join. I'll give you the link.

Yes, he worked on ride concepts for Disneyland, the only theme park he worked on and was interested in. He was done with theme parks. Why do you think his project after Disneyland, EPCOT, wasn't a theme park? He said it himself, he was through with theme parks. He was all about moving forward, hence the reason he wasn't too excited about Magic Kingdom. If he wasn't excited/impressed with Magic Kingdom, I doubt he'd be all jumpy over four more Disneyland mockeries.

I think Walt would be very pleased with the overall direction of the company. I know he would be very disappointed that the Disneyland complex is still run by the company. He would have gotten rid of the Tiki Room, CBJ, CoP, Jungle Cruise and IASW. He would be very proud that managers had the foresight to get rid of 20K, SWSA, MTWR, the Skyway and the other carny rides.

He would ban all smoking in the parks and the sale of all tobacco products. He would have refused to pay Steve Jobs for Pixar. He would be very pleased with the NestGen MagicBands and he would have a special tracking band for all his employees that would enable him to track them by satellite anywhere in the world.

He would build out EPCOT per his original plan and use it as a camp to house cheap labor for his entire WDW complex. He would have expanded upon his habit of using company resources for his own private endeavors and profit.

He would have never purchased the Star Wars franchise realizing it appeals to such a limited group. He would have dropped Mickey as the company symbol and formally adopted Stitch as his new partner. He would have kept Britney Spears under contract and refined her as a sexy ingénue to represent the Disney empire.

We can't know for sure what Walt would do, and we're all just expressing our opinions here, and each no doubt has a certain validity (except Clever Name's). But it's quite possible and logical to extrapolate from his known behaviors and come up with a scenario. And given that, I find it hard to believe that he'd say: "Let's buy up faded franchises that have already been filmed and merchandised to the hilt and make MORE movies and merchandise based on them. Because that's what the public wants. More of the same."
