If Walt was still alive...

Yes
If anything Walt was a pragmatist, there are things that are only possible if all the pieces fall into place. Economic conditions, laws and regulation, and social climate all are factors to consider.

He was socially conservative so things would have been quite different.

Walt would NOT :( be happy with a company that uses other peoples ideas, rather than creating their own! :banghead:
Really! Take a look back to Walt's day, his major shows were other mostly people's ideas from fairy tales (Snow White, Pinocchio, Cinderella etc, etc) to live action (20000 Leagues, Mary Poppins, Zorro etc etc). Walt used material from wherever he could get it and wouldn't be phased at all.

This Duck has NO, argument with the sighted literary sources that Walt used 1930's thru 1960's prior to his death in 1966. The post refers to "acquired" properties such as Avatar and Star Wars, that were already developed by others outside of Disney.

Amazed at WDI. Horrified at how much everything costs.

Yep.

I think he would be disappointed in how his idea for EPCOT turned out to be a giant gift shop with booze. I don't see him enjoying the idea of selling alcohol in his park (aside from Club 33 @ Disneyland ) and the lack of... well, EPCOT in the EPCOT that was built.

He would probably wonder why COP's "future" scene isn't quite so futuristic.

Overall though, I'd have to think he would be amazed by the technology that the parks employ today. Think about it. In his day, things were a lot more simple. Im not sure he would appreciate the level of gift shop stuff, but would be impressed by the decoration and detail of said gift shops themselves. As for all of the mass produced, same crap in each store, I doubt he'd agree with that.

I think the world would be a better place if we had Walt Disney back.

But that's just my humble little opinion.

And @Cmdr_Crimson , once again you nailed it with your pictorial post. Bravo, Sir.

Many things would be different, but he would be really proud of Magic Kingdom in general. That place never loses its magic effect on people. EPCOT would be totally different.
He would tweak a few things...revamp necessary items.
I enjoy WDW as it is. Yes, there are things wrong, but as a society we complain too much and not enjoy the moments. I feel blessed to have been able to go as often as I have as there are people who have not been able to go, ever.

He's be disappointed in EPCOT, love AK and say that DHS needs a lot of work. He'd also wonder why the company had to acquire so much "product" and not make their own. Then, he'd be asked to go to a designated smoking area.

I don't know that he'd love AK without Beastly Kingdomme, but agree wholeheartedly with the rest of your post.

And I think he'd kick Robert Iger in the unmentionables. :D

His version of EPCOT had no chance of being a reality. It wasn't realistic to create a utopian environment. Perhaps in the mid sixties the "thought of things to come" made it seem perfect but the reality is it was never going to happen. The world has drastically altered since 1966 when he passed.

I think Walt would be pleased with the continued and growing acceptance of the Disney brand worldwide. He’d be fascinated with the advances in Imagineering and continuation of “some” of his company culture values. I’d see him disappointed with too much focus on short-term decisions to satisfy Wall Street, while Roy might have a different view. Think Walt would like to see more effort and resources put into animation and innovation.

I've always wondered what he would have thought of having a DL in other countries... especially what he'd think of Shanghai's currently-being-built model... namely that castle.

I wish we could 'talk' to him. Someone get a Ouija board :\

Exactly - he said: "Why are you paying for ideas when you can just revamp other peoples ideas, that have fallen into public domain, for free!"

Probably wouldn't think highly of it at all, given the fact that after Disneyland, Walt said he was through with theme parks. He didn't like repeating himself, hence EPCOT being a city and not a theme park (original plans, for those unaware).

In regard to the title of this thread - "If Walt was still alive..." - (he'd be 111, btw), I think the whole Company would have taken a "slightly" different path.
If Walt actually returned from the grave today, I think he'd say, regarding the Company, society, and the world in general...
"I've been gone for almost 50 years and this is it...??? WT*?!?!?!?!?!"
