If they built another Disney Theme Park in the US, where would it be?

Disney would have been well-served to simply move a little to the northwest, on the opposite side of Dulles Airport, an area that was not developed at the time. They could have eliminated the sturm und drang over the Manassas Battlefields, and had a relatively pristine area to develop for themselves, not unlike Orlando.....
As much as I was interested in seeing a park there I never thought it would happen. We just don't have enough good weather to warrant a large year round park in the Disney style.

That's what I was thinking. An early america/colonial theme in all honesty is one of the few themes Disney has yet to exploit.
True, and it's been awhile, but I think that was the plan all along.
I saw the America Pavilion posted earlier, and I was also thinking Liberty Square. :D

I live in the DC Metro Area and all I can say is that Disney America would equate to being another Six Flags America Fiasco.
Off topic, if that's possible, but I'm beginning to think there's an entire Disney subculture here in the Metro DC/Baltimore area. Maybe it's because we're so close to the puzzle palace where our nation's government lives! and we're used to all the pixie dust flying around.
I've just noticed a concentration of us on the board here. Maybe a Disney park in our area isn't so far fetched after all?

I was a police officer when that place was called Wild World, (early 80's) and had friends who worked that area. They would get calls when the wild animals got out and were running around Central Ave.:D

I'm not trying to pick a fight but we in Virginia take care of our things better than they do in Maryland. Besides you need to be packin' heat if you're at Six Flags America after dark. Disney in Virginia is a winning combo.

LOL!! This is a true statement, and it doesn't have to be after dark either.

It should be close to Phoenix, I have no real reason other than convenience for myself (and the fact that AZ has no theme parks at all).

I'm honestly shocked that there's not a Disney-themed park in the New York area yet... Although my first pick would be St. Louis, MO!

I have to agree. Im not saying they should build a Disney in New York but I live there to. As great as Time Square is, and walking thru the old small towns are they need a park like Disney. I was hoping for the 2014 Worlds Fair but I doubt it would ever happen. There would never be a Disney in New York, it takes for ever to approve anything here in New York ( HELL!!!!!! ). I can see them building in the Catskills. Its funny, I had a dream they built a Disneyland on the old Catskills game farm grounds.

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
If the people here in South Carolina weren't so freaking DUMB, we would have WDW here!

But they said noooo and now it's in Florida...

We have a theme park INSPIRED by Disneyland and is nothing like it and is 89.9% roller coasters!! :fork:

They were also talking about converting the 64 worlds fair into Disney. It never happened and I blame the NY Government. Nothing fun happens in New York .

i've heard alot of rumors about disney owning land down here in south texas. we already have sea world, six flags and schlitterbahn. we got the room for a disney park, the weather is pretty much the same as florida just without the rain.
but i think it would be better for them to focus on making the parks they do have even better

Kinda off topic but I've noticed alot of people here saying they wish Disney would of built WDW close to them, no matter where you live. For me, i'm glad I dont live by it. I see WDW as a vacation to a different magical world away from my home and everything else. If it was only an hour or two away or less, I just dont see it being as speacial IMO. I wouldnt get the same "magical" feeling.

The weather for Orlando is more constant than texas, it does not get as cold in the winter or hot in the summer. Disney needs rain to run its parks efficiently.

New York (Bronx I think) had a fake Disneyland back in the day called Freedomland...a real knockoff.

Back in the late 80's early 90's they attempted to build a historical disney theme park in the Shenendoah Valley in VA. It was shot down by locals because it was disturbing a Civil War Battlefield. The fight went on for a few years until Disney gave up. I've never heard of them trying to build another US park again other than at DL or WDW. I don't think they want the bad publicity again.

It wasn't in the Shenandoah Valley, it was only about 30 miles from DC. The site has been developed now, which makes mute the concerns people had to stop disney.
