If Madagascar is going into Kidzone in 2016/2017...

If Madagascar is going into Kidzone in 2016/2017, it will be a shame that the New York section of the park is on the other side of the lake - they could have had an entrance sign stating "Central Park Zoo" leading straight on from the New York section - to help slowly change themes.

Instead, it is beside World Expo and Hollywood (although it could fit in nicely beside Animal Actors on Location)

Or they could just put it in Kid Zone anyway...and demo A Day in the park with Barney and transform Curious George's play area into a Madagascar themed area.
That'd make me happy. ;)

This only increases the chance that we might be losing E.T. Replacing E.T. with Madagascar would be like replacing Star Wars with the Teletubbies. Fail.

Eh I don't see that happening. While Madagascar is housed in a large building, it's a flume ride. Completely different from ET.

I think ET will be around for awhile longer.

While I would love to say ET is safe,it's simply not. It's fate could change at anytime and that's something most people don't understand. The logistics of Jaws was done long before phase 1 of Potter opened and until green lit everyone was like no way, it will never happen. Well, here we are 7 months later. Regardless of what people think ET, one of my personal favorites could face the demo squad within 2 years and that's just the way it is.

As for the future of Madagascar in Orlando? I will be keeping a very close eye on how "temporary" Donkey's new set up is. As the Shrek real estate is in a prime location.

Unless it's going to be a completely different ride/attraction or they're going to demolish Mel's and Lucy, no way is Madagascar taking over Shrek. Not nearly enough room.

Isn't Donkey temporarily moving because of Transformers, then should be moving back after construction is complete, and possibly made better/bigger?

Well that's whole point, nothing is set in stone as far as locations or types of attractions for Kidzone. This is the main reason I am very curious to see whats going to happen to the Shrek meet and greet. Is it really going to be temporary or may Shrek be getting the boot from the front of the park by 2016. A swamp with meet and greets would do much better for the kiddies than in its current form. Again nothing factual, just speaking aloud.

I can't imagine that they would get rid of Shrek completely, but I guess that they could probably quite easily move it to Kidzone - it's basically just a screen and some seats, and I imagine that the current Shrek theatre could easily be repurposed (could they put some sort of Kong attraction in there? People seem to want Kong back in the park)!

But, if they did move Shrek, it seems even stranger to put Despicable Me where it is - why wouldn't it go into Kidzone as well?

Despicable Me works fine where it is...though moving Shrek could mean we may be seeing a Dreamworks-ification of Kid Zone. It would make sense. Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda...all popular movie franchises. I'd enjoy seeing an overhaul to Kid Zone, especially If it turns out looking at all like Universal Singapore's Far Far Away and Madagascar areas.

I think an extension of the parade should be in order then too...keep Despicable Me and Spongebob, but add Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, the Simpsons, and Woody Woodpecker to the parade. Then you could have a parade on caliber to anything Disney has done!

Don't forget How To Train Your Dragon... If Universal is keeping Dreamworks in the parks, Dragon should get some sort of representation...

Despicable Me looks really odd where it is at the moment to me! It's a corridor of soundstages, and then there is this detailed house just randomly on the side of the street (mind you, I've not yet seen the film, so it's location may actually make sense to those that have, I just think that it looks odd!)

I do think that there should be a "Dreamworks" land, but I don't really want them to get rid of E.T, which wouldn't fit into a Dreamworks land (neither would the big Spongebob shop that I think they've just built there). Could it be possible that they could build a Dreamworks themed land behind the current Kidzone, in what was thought to be a future World Expo expansion pad? (have access from between MIB and The Simpsons, as well as from the current Kidzone, and make the Fear Factor pad a new expansion pad for World Expo?)

CURRENT DREAMWORKS ANIMATION FILMS:
Antz
The Prince of Egypt
The Road to El Dorado
Chicken Run
Shrek
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron
Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas
Shrek 2
Shark Tale
Madagascar
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
Over the Hedge
Flushed Away
Shrek the Third
Bee Movie
Kung Fu Panda
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa
Monsters vs. Aliens
How to Train Your Dragon
Shrek Forever After
Megamind
Kung Fu Panda 2
Puss in Boots
Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted

So franchises are Shrek/Puss in Boots, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar and How to Train Your Dragon (#2 is in development) - could potentially create four good rides!

I've not yet seen pictures of Universal Singapore's areas.

One thing that I hope that Universal do is continue to add to the parade. Starting off with four floats is fine, but I hope they add more - even one a year would be fine! Other floats they could have could be a "Hammer Horror" float (Mummy, Dracula, Frankenstein, etc.), Action/SciFi (Terminator, MIB, Transformers), Leading Ladies (Betty Boop, Lucy - both have shops in USF) - but I don't know whether a "human" float would clash with the "cartoon" floats already there?

Looking more in to this idea, the plot surrounded by Backlot Drive, Expo Backstage Rd, Curious George, A Day in the Park with Barney, The Simpsons and Men in Black looks to be about 4 times the size of MIB, and 2 times the size of Jaws, and, unless I'm looking at the map incorrectly, could possibly fit the "Madagascar Zone" and the "Far Far Away Zone" from Universal Singapore! Obviously, if they kept the current Kidzone, they wouldn't need some of the attractions ("Enchanted Airways" just looks like a far better themed "Woody Woodpecker's coaster") and they could retheme others ("King Julien's Beach Party-Go-Round" and "Magic Potion Spin" could probably become something to do with "How To Train Your Dragon" and "Kung Fu Panda"), and get rid of some of the surrounding themeing if they wanted some bigger rides for different franchises!

I know we already have huge projects in the works in USF, but I'm really curious if our ideas for KidZone will come to fruition.

I would really like to see a cohesive theme to the area...as well as the departure of Barney. The Madagascar ride might be cool...but I'd like to see what else Uni could come up with....

Do you think they'd keep the area a dead ended corner, or wrap it around and expand back towards the expansion pad?

Even though I would hate to see it happen, How to Train Your Dragon would be a solid replacement for ET... As for Madagascar, demoing Barney and Curious George would work or they could build it where the old Hard Rock use to be. Plenty of options there.

The Animal Actors show is rather poor and should be removed. No idea what could replace it though...
