If I could improve non-WDW Disney parks...

Storybook Cruise is HKDL's version of Storybook Land Canal Boats (Disneyland) and Le Pays des Contes de Fees (Disneyland Paris).
But what are THEY? I'm not really sure what the concept Storybook Cruise is based on is. Could you fill me in on what paris and Disneyland's versions are?

What you do is you board a boat and go past miniature scenes from classic Disney films, basically. That's pretty much the concepts for the ride.

Sounds like a nice gentle ride. Although I can see why i missed it both times (I was 13 and with my friends in Paris, and I only had a few hours in Disneyland).

Would be sure to please youngsters

Yeah, it sure would. Anyway, what do you think of my idea of having Capt. Hook's Pirate Ship in Hong Kong? It's going to be the exact same one as in the old Disneyland Fantasyland and Disneyland Paris' Adventureland.

I was also thinking of taking the Disney Animation bldg at DCA and replace the music montage with a montage of classic trailers from Disney films. Think the pre-show area for the Great Movie Ride, but with only Disney films. When I feel like it, I will put up what trailers should be used. Be warned, though: it might get to be a bit hefty. Feel free to comment.

I'm actually having difficulty deciding which trailers to use. All I could think of was Fantasia, which will be the same trailer as seen in the pre-show for the Great Movie Ride at Walt Disney World. You can actually watch it here at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1cEg8NWRvw.

Anyway, I'm having difficulty deciding on other ones to have; which ones do you think should be there?

Snow White
Bambi
Dumbo
Fantasia
The Little Mermaid
Aladdin
Lion King
Toy Story
Finding Nemo
Cinderella
Chicken Little (something recent)

And possibly a few Disney shorts as well, just to break up the traillers?

I was thinking of arranging the trailers as the music montage was arranged (the trailers play in the Disney Animation lobby). Anyway, how about this for the trailer set?

  • The Little Mermaid
  • Beauty and the Beast
  • Fantasia
  • Atlantis: The Lost Empire
  • Bambi
  • Aladdin
  • Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
  • Pinocchio
  • Hercules
  • The Jungle Book
  • Dumbo
  • Mulan
  • Lilo and Stitch
  • Lion King
  • Alice In Wonderland
  • Peter Pan
  • Toy Story
  • Fantasia 2000
  • Sleeping Beauty
  • Finding Nemo
  • The Emperor's New Groove
  • Cinderella
  • Chicken Little

That's the full list there. But now, what cartoons shorts should play between trailers? Also, this same trailer montage and cartoons will also play in the Art of Disney Animation at the Walt Disney Studios Paris at Disneyland Resort Paris in France, albeit showing French releases of the film. Here's a sample trailer from Alice In Wonderland to give an idea of what to expect in France: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOWh1P4FntM. But anyway, what should the cartoon shorts be that should play between trailers?

What specifically are the Toy Story Shorts? Because I don't remember them.

Umm how'd you mean, like what was in them exactly? Becase it's been a while. They were just silly 30 second pixar animations that were basically an animated joke

Yeah, that's what I mean: what's in them. Didn't they used to play on ABC Saturday Morning?

I'm also considering redesigning the exterior of the Disney Animation building and redo it as the animation building from the old Disney Studio at Hyperion (where the studio was from 1926 to 1940) before moving to Burbank. It will even have the old studio sign above the building. Here's what the sign looks like: http://as7disney.images.go.com/is/image/DisneyShopping/95951?$sctn$.

And here is a shot of the old Disney Studio: http://www.silverlake.org/HistoricPhotos/oldphotos/disney_mayfair.jpg.

Anyway, what do you think about that?

I will also bring The Little Mermaid dark ride to the Disney parks, the one you see on the TLM DVD. It will be called Voyages of the Little Mermaid. It can actually be built in all Disney resorts worldwide. Maybe not necessarily all Magic Kingdom-type parks, but certainly to all Disney resorts. In this case:

  • CALIFORNIA: Disney's California Adventure; Paradise Pier (replacing Mullholland Madness)
  • FLORIDA: Magic Kingdom; Fantasyland (where Ariel's Grotto is)
  • JAPAN: Tokyo DisneySea; Mermaid Lagoon (obviously)
  • FRANCE: Disneyland Paris; Fantasyland (known as Les Voyages de le Petite Sirene in French)
  • HONG KONG: Hong Kong Disneyland; Fantasyland

Incidentally, it was actually planned for Disneyland Paris to actually have the dark ride, but budgets interfered...

Anyway, what do you think?

Here's the list of cartoons I'm thinking of using that will be shown at random between trailers to break them up:

  1. Steamboat Willie (1928)
  2. The Autograph Hound (1939)
  3. The Brave Little Tailor (1938)
  4. Chip an' Dale (1947)
  5. The Three Little Pigs (1933)
  6. Pluto's Blue Note (1947)
  7. Working For Peanuts (1953)
  8. Flowers and Trees (1932)
  9. Donald's Crime (1945)
  10. Mickey and the Seal (1948)

I chose that list particularly since many of them were involved with the Academy Awards, either as winners or nominations. Anyway, how's that for a cartoon list to play in DCA's Animation building lobby?

I would figure with all of the hotel rooms at the parks that during the busy summer months they would draw some visitors to a water park. It would greatly improve the parks attractiveness. But, i would understand if they didn't want to put one up because of it being closed for a good part of a year.
