The problem is not the fact that the attraction is 45 minutes. It doesn't matter how long an attraction is, it matters how good the attraction is to hold UP to 45 minutes.

The Great Movie Ride and The American Adventure would be a good example of this, in my opinion.

Yea, that's true. In the end, a ride shouldn't "feel" too long.

The Ellen animatronic has been gone for almost 7 or 8 months. I don't think it's coming back.
Yeah I know that it was missing on my last trip and even then people were saying it's not coming back, a shame that's all it would take along with a tidy up to restore it to all it's glory it it's current state, appreciate that's not for everyone!

Replacing the Ellen concept, while preserving the "Dinorama" is exactly what should happen. @marni1971 has imagineered a nearly perfect replacement. The length isn't the issue at all. You can create an attraction that engages for far longer than than that as most movies keep attention for 90 minutes. It has to be engaging, challenging, and informative. Making use of the latest tech.

In all likelyhood, with the way TDO is operating these parks, they will find a way to keep it short. Why does a shorter attraction find more favor? So the guests can be back in the stores, restuarants, pin kiosks, and temporary food and alcohol shacks. It can rotate thousands of guests with hardly any effort greater than some animated wire talking about electricity and where it came from.

Will they swing for the fences on anything anymore or spoon feed the lowest common denominator? OR will they just let it continue into disrepair.

The screens and sound system have amazing potential. To be honest, it's a waste of world class equipment to watch a game of jeopardy on that screen with that sound equipment.

They should take advantage of it and make a ridiculous imax style experience with real HD video and crazy sound effects so you don't feel like you're watching a large version of your home TV.

I actually think the dinosaur scenes are fine as is, with minimal updating and perhaps a new scene where animatronic Ellen used to be.

Update the information with more relevant contact and do the HD movies reworked with an awesome score like before and you have an all new experience.

PLEASE don't completely change the concept and/or theme it with a movie or another celebrity.

The problem with that is, IIRC from Martin's video about UoE, the sound systems were only able to be installed due to the removal of things like the kinetic mosaic and theatre 1's mirrors. So there's that tradeoff. If WDI can find a way to have both the amazing soundsystem/soundproofing and the incredible projection techniques at the same time, that would be an absolute marvel.

Like everything, there is always a solution but an associated cost as well. Unfortunately, Disney has been less and less likely to go the extra mile from a budget perspective. See the Yeti.

Indoor high-speed, energy-themed rollercoaster. The lift hill would be have a small purple dragon and a guy with a beard collecting stuff into an "idea bag". There would be several slower dark ride sections where the cars would rotate 90 degrees for scenes of the future in places like Brava Centauri and Mesa Verde. The final drop would be under an oil rig and some guy with a funny accent would say something like, "Norway's spirit is and will always be adventure". The lines would be out the door for another 20 years!

In short, the Epcot Center purist's dream?

Who is "most of us"

I'm one of them.....Yeah I enjoy the attraction..But, if you think about it...The only reason she hosted it was she had her show on ABC...After the ratings drop she vanished for some time..After the Popularity of Finding Nemo in 2003 she got a talk show because of her popularity.

Oddly enough during one show when Jason Alexander was on he asked her if She has ever been on it....She stated she hasn't....However Bill Nye has mentioned it when someone asked a "Unique" Question...

I agree with everything you said until the end. 45 minutes is what makes Universe of Energy Universe of Energy. Like I've said before, why should we suffer due to other people's short attention spans?

Isn't all that equipment nearly two decades old at this point?
I would think at this point it's hardly an asset to be considered for a potential re-themeing.

If I can be pessimistic for a moment, what with the replacement of Norway by a Frozen pavilion, is there any real reason why the "energy" theme has to be kept at all?
Why not add a Star Wars ride?
Or something based on Tangled?

Disney World fans always seem to be clamoring for Disneyland's Indiana Jones ride; surely there's enough space on this plot of land to put one here.

Simple answer is adding an IP ride would be a deviation from the Future World's original concept. Frozen going into Norway is also a deviation but I'll not rehash that in this thread. Nemo landing at The Seas also was a deviation, but again I'll not rehash that either.

Lengthy answer is, Star Wars may end up at DHS where Star Tours currently resides, so there would be no reason to put it in Future World at all. Tangled has beautiful bathrooms dedicated to it in Fantasyland where those things should find a home if they are important enough. Indian Jones is a great attraction and could certainly find a home in DHS along with it's stunt show although there is a strikingly similar attraction now know as Dinosaur in AK.

For as corny as it may sound, Future World's concept was full of pavilions filled with edutainment. World Showcase's concept was exploring other nations cultures. In a desperate set of maneuvers to appeal to the lowest common denominator, we are now seeing those concepts being eaten away. Theme Parks are such because they establish and add to an identity. I've said much on this before so I'll just leave it there.

Does it have to be an energy theme, no. Should they keep the dinosaurs, I hope so. Should it be re-imagined, yes.

Absolutely, I think the energy theme should be preserved. If it's not, I will lose what little faith I have left in Disney's management team.

Energy is an important topic, perhaps even more important today than it was when EPCOT first opened. It's not like it's a boring, irrelevant, or abstract concept. It could be revamped and great once again with the same theme. After all, EPCOT is supposed to be a world of tomorrow, so jamming something in just to drive crowds really cheapens the brand pillars. I realize something like an Avengers ride might be more popular, but it EPCOT has no theme anymore, what are they really doing? They should just rename EPCOT "Magic Kingdom Too" or something and run with it.

Sadly, I don't think both my view or the majority of peoples views on this thread will live to see their day come true..

..We'll most likely get something more along the lines of this.

Is that still on-track to be released?

Last I heard, Pixar was basically throwing out the script and most of the movie and starting afresh.
