Ideas for a third Disneyland park.

The Toy Story Parking lot was long ago earmarked as the plot of land for the 3rd gate. In fact when plans for DCA were announced, they even indicated that a third park was to follow on the plot. Also, some of the hotels and other plots occupied by housing developments are allegedly owned by Disney as well... which ones, I don't know.

OK, the issue of what Disney owns has been researched by many, including the city of Anaheim. Under council testimony, Disney has gone on record that they don't own any non-Disney labeled Hotel or Motel, nor do they have any ownership in housing developments, with the exception of a few Condos on Walnut, which is used for visiting executives.

As for the third park, while in the early 2000's, Disney claimed that Toy Story would be used for future expansion, in reality, it has never been re-zoned from Farming. Currently a temporary zoning permit allows parking. The city wants a good chunk of it to complete Gene Autry Way to the Convention Center. The city won't rezone it without a trade off. The Katella CM lot, being converted to the Bullseye Guest Parking lot. That land is zoned to allow Disney to build what it wants to.

ALL of Disney Future plans are focused on reapplying for the Eastern Gateway project (later this year), and expansions to Disneyland, DCA and the current Transportation Plaza being converted to Park use. (When the Eastern Gateway is built).

Sorry, but these are the realities, and since I am a new member of the S.O.A.R. Advisory Committee (Disneyland's Political Arm), I know what I am talking about...

Sorry, but there is no Third Park planned for Anaheim, and not even Blue Sky. If anything, you will get a Toy Story Parking Structure, and a Hotel pad(s). The most immediate need for DLR is parking, even after the Pixar Structure opens.

I actually asked Bob Iger directly about it during the Q & A portion of the 2015 Shareholders meeting and he said back then that there were no current plans but he "doesn't rule it out in the future." If a 3rd gate were to come about, I know it would likely be at least 10-20 years out from now.

Personally, I reeeeeeally wish a third park would've been underway a few years ago and Star Wars and Marvel would've been anchoring lands for it. I also have a bunch of other ideas I would personally love to be part of the equation like Mystic Manor, a Fantasia ride, a Maleficent castle, Halloween Town, the Muppets, and a Sleepy Hollow dark ride among others.

As for properties in the area that Disney owns, they did purchase Carousel Inn on Harbor which they were going to incorporate in the Eastern Gateway project. I'm surprised to hear you say they don't any other properties. When they testified to the council I wonder if their testimony was referring to properties owned directly by the Walt Disney Company, and not to parcels owned indirectly by Disney through third parties in the same way land was purchased in Orlando for WDW. Yes, Disney did buy the Carousel from the Wincome Group for the Eastern Gateway project, which now has been torn down, and just an asphalt pad exists.

Disney does not indirectly own any Hotel/Motel projects in the city of Anaheim.

On S.O.A.R. and in other situations, I know EVERY Hotel owner in the Resort Area. I have had meetings with them. On the S.O.A.R. board, there are 5 Owners, plus the Disneyland Government Relations CM's, and even Josh D'Amaro comes on occasion.

Due to multiple issues that have come up with the City Council, Disney had to show all proprieties owned and/or managed by TWDC and any subsidies. And they own NO operating Hotels/Motels other than the 3 DLR Hotels on property. Other properties owned are the parking lots, Ball CM Lot, Eastern Gateway/Pummba and Toy Story/Bullseye/Katella CM. That is it, except the Condos, I believe it is 7 units in the Pepperwood Complex on Walnut.

I should point out that Disney does own the land where the USCIS facility is on Manchester, and is hoping to terminate the lease with the Federal Government by 2021. I count that as part of the Eastern Gateway land, as with the former Carousel Inn

So there are NO Third Party ownerships.

This is not Inside info, but facts that are documented.

Disney is actively searching for more land, but for parking, which is desperately needed.

I would love to see the villains dark kingdom be the third gate for Disneyland instead of the 5th gate for disney world.

Why not bulldoze Downtown Disney and build riverfront square only don't build the attractions Walt had in mind because most of them where tweaked into rides in Disneyland. Just build other rides. But the original size was going to be between 4.5 to 5 acres Downtown Disney is 20 acres so you could build a huge version of it and don't worry about Downtown Disney you can rebuild it on the top floor. Perhaps you could bulldoze toon town move the roger rabbit ride to where the monster inc ride is in California Adventure. With that being done you could turn mister toads wild ride into a dark coaster where toon town was and if there's room build a seven dwarve mine train clone as well .with that being done Walt was originally going to have Peter Pan, Pinocchio and Snow White in River Front Square so why not move them there. Then you would have plenty of room to build new attractions in Storybook land.

The Third Park is obviously taking over SeaWorld when it goes bankrupt and moving the remaining Orcas, dolphins, and seal lions to a non-profit sanctuary with Disney's generous donation to live the rest of their lives. Those animal activists won't have a SeaWorld to picket anymore. Disney will gain parks that are well developed and have a foothold in San Antonio Texas where Disney will finally have a Texas Disneyland, hmmm, DisneySea.

SeaWorld actually have a lot more parks than just the SeaWorld brand parks, they have Bush Gardens, Aquatica, etc. and are actually in a better financial position than Disney is right now. SeaWold is actually hoping to be able to buy some smaller parks as a result of all of this mess to further diversify away from animals, but that's another story.

Makes sense I was just doing a little wishful thinking. Because I heard they were thinking of getting rid of mister toad and I thought making a rollercoaster out of it would be better than losing it all together as long as the dark coaster has all the scenes from the ride in it.

Disneyland will never be completed... nor bulldozed. If the company can spend 2 decades with DLP limping along to profitability, they aren’t going to abandon the mothership just because of COVID & Newsom putting things on ice for a handful of years.

But I do think the mulitpark ‘replicate WDW’ dream is dead for DLR. Go east, young man! (But not too far east that you violate Universal’s Marvel contract.)

I have heard that the parent company for Knotts Berry Farm says that they might never reopen. They are seriously considering selling off the roller coasters and developing the land as Real Estate. So sad to think that this might happen as a result of COVID and the policies of the State of California.

Florida has had amusement parks open since June, with restrictions in place regarding numbers of patrons, and physical distancing, as well as a 'universal' requirement at ALL the parks that EVERYONE wear masks. And the result is that there is not one single documented case in ANY Florida Amusement park during that time, of COVID being spread from visitor to visitor, or from visitors to staff, or from staff to visitors.

Now, I know that a lot of people doubt these results, since they point out that Florida has a vested financial interest in getting the parks open (and California doesn't?) but it is not only the state reporting no cases. The worker's unions, who are watching the health of their workers very carefully, and keeping track of the risks, are reporting the same thing.

Please. They aren't ever going to bulldoze these 2 parks. A year from now we will be talking about how dire things were for the parks and how they are now bustling with full crowds. My bigger concern is the surrounding hotels and businesses...will they be able to make a comeback. I do think that business will come back but the names will change.

When I checked the CIS lease on the GSA website it said the lease expired in 2020. Do you know if the government had the ability to extend the lease?

I'm not 100% sure on this, since it's been awhile since I was down there (obviously), but I think they have already vacated the building.

Obviously I was being sardonic. My point was not that the bulldozing of the current parks is imminent, but rather that the idea of a third gate has never been further from reality than now, at least since DCA opened.

Limping is a far cry from abandoned. Disneyland is currently an abandoned park... perhaps able to reopen in late spring 2021.
