Only thing I think a bunch of would like to see is Disney taking over the Swan & Dolphin. Although it would also be nice if the Hotels at Disney Springs were also Disney owned would be a better way to go than just make a new hotel...

What I would like to see is a complete moratorium on new resorts and DVCs for several years, especially near the MK. Disney has continued to add rooms while not increasing park space. The MK is simply way too crowded 12 months of the year. The main purpose of most families visiting WDW is to go to the Magic Kingdom. Until the Studios and AK get their new lands running both of those will continue to be half day parks for most returning guests with the other half of the day spent back at MK, I would guess.

I'd like to see a grand Asian themed resort. To play along with Mulan. I think you could make the rooms and outside of the resort look awesome. And have plenty of gardens and kois all around of course. I would think this would be in the Deluxe resort category.

I'd also really like to be able to stay in a Tower of Terror themed hotel. An old vintage 'cursed' Hollywood hotel from the 1930's is right up my alley. Can you imagine the beautiful art deco in each room...the lobby...the exterior?! Ahh! :inlove: They could have a cute Speakeasy bar in the hotel lobby that served classic cocktails and do big band music nightly (or at least on the weekends). A red carpet out front would be fun as well for incoming guests. Of course we'd have the bell hops and everyone dressed in the usual 30's attire. Oh man, I need that place now-I'll book! Probably another Deluxe.

I voted for the Venetian style, because in my mind it would be similar to the Miracosta Hotel at DisneySea, which is absolutely stunning.
Even though I'm not into it, I imagine a Star Wars themed hotel would do great. They need to pick a theme that won't be passe in 10 years, and Star Wars isn't going anywhere, so that would be a smart business decision.

You know there's a whole list of resorts that never were:
Disney's Asian Resort
Fort Wilderness Junction
Disney's Mediterranean Resort
Disney's Persian Resort
Disney's Venetian Resort

I would love for Fort Wilderness Junction (Buffalo Junction) to happen one day. It was supposed to have western theming and be a physical link between Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge.
buffalo junction sounds cool

the streets area of buffalo junction could be a second boardwalk type area with restaurants and things

while there at it would be awesome to see a rebuild of river country as an adult day spa type area, possibly build an exclusive adults only wing of buffalo junction connecting to river country

I echo the sentiments on Buffalo Junction. I really do hope that moves forward at some point in time. The original plans I believe called for a train connecting the Wilderness Lodge to Ft Wilderness with a stop at Buffalo Junction.

I'd also look at the land over by Coronado Springs. If Disney ever moves with the 5 gate I'd expect it over in that area. Coronado would probably become a 5th gate hotel along with a couple of other new builds. (But we're at least a decade from that becoming reality).

But since we're looking for some new ideas I'd vote for an Everest/Ski type lodge (Think Vail with some fake snow) tied into Blizzard Beach just north of Osceola Pkwy and west of Buena Vista Drive. Pretty much adjacent to Blizzard and just south of Coronado.

Or

East side of Bay Lake. They originally planned to develop this but it didn't quite work out. Give it a Tahoe Feel (considering it would be on the lake) and build out another 2 hotels on the lake with a separate entertainment area. It wouldn't really much of a stretch to tie it into WL (as it is modeled after the pacific NW), FW and hopefully Buffalo Junction at some point and tie it all together with a steam train (along with the obligatory buses and boats)
the train could connect fort wilderness, buffalo junction, and wilderness lodge to the TTC allowing easy access to MK and Epcot

originally the plan was to build an expansion of the seven seas lagoon to the west side of where it currently is

i'm not sure how much of the land around the rest of bay lake disney owns to do your lake tahoe idea, its a cool idea just not sure space allows for it

the idea of a hotel connecting to blizard beach could also be cool, maybe build an indoor waterpark as part of it would be competition for the new wolf lodge thats being built in orlando
I've always thought it would cool if they built a new resort across the street from Tomorrowland and call it The Magic Kingdom resort in that plot of land that was once planned for a future resort. Have a bridge that can be raised over the road and guest could enter right into Tomorrowland. That empty area could be themed to the Tron coaster and jetpack ride they are building in SDL.

They could theme different areas of the resort to different attractions like HM, SM, BTM or NFL and so on. I've seen the concept photos on here for themed room ideas and one of them was for HM and POTC (like CBR but better).

Please excuse my crude photo editing on my smartphone. Just showing the basic idea.
a tommorrow world theme hotel would be great, as long as the sitelines were carefully considered to ensure it looked right from within MK, since definitely dont need a repeat of the swan dolphin sightlines over at epcot
Sci-fi/Future/Modern that i love to see it for the new resort at Disney World like Miles from Tomorrowland theme! That why I voted for Sci-fi/Future/Modern!
agreed
I voted for sci fi but I'd really love to see some really exotic resorts. Too many of the current hotels are themed to 'this is like some place you'd go on vacation if you weren't in Walt Disney world' cape cod, Hawaii, national park, key west etc

Think how amazing it would be to stay in a Japanese castle, Renaissance italy or a Star Wars planet!

I'd love bay lake to become another seven seas lagoon ringed with exotic resorts connected by a monorail or other futuristic transport
would be cool if the ideas could really get out of the box, other worldly

pandora hotel. would be awesome though would take the a decade to build

there were originally plans to build a lagoon to the west of seven seas lagoon with hotels

it does seem like with the expansion it would be in there interest to get the two that connect via the walkway by the marketplace would be great

then tear them down and rebuild them to match the springs theme
I think it is only a matter of time before Star Wars is represented on the resort front.. They could renovate the Treehouse villas to be Endor or Kashyyyk..

would be cooler to have it connect to the actual land or overlook the actual land

I think if they relocate It's a Small World to where the speedway is (like they are doing in Tokyo) that would be cool, and they could make a resort on the right side of the park, so you would have views into it, so it could view tomorrowland, main street, and fantasyland, and possibly connect to the castle to give it a much more regal look, and grandness.

if done right that could be really cool to put a hotel in the middle of the park

though would have to be done on more of a luxury exclusive scale, due to logistical/safety concerns

turning Star Wars into a themed resort sounds like a great idea. for some reason I'd like to see them make a resort themed & dedicated to Mickey Mouse.
after all...it was all started by a mouse.

a value or moderate themed after the removed mickeys toontown fair could be cool with mickey and minnies houses, since they live separately since they never officially got married

does mickey have a last name? if he did what would it be? disney like his creator?

would be a good theme for an all family suites hotel geared to families with little kids

If Disney wanted to try and revive the Asian Resort concept, I think an Asian-themed take on Animal Kingdom Lodge would be interesting. Feature Asian Elephants, tapirs and yaks instead of the African animals, and feature more rainforest or Japanese gardens instead of open savanna. And the WDW resorts need some more Asian restaurants on property. :hungry: I'm sure a fine dining restaurant with sushi, or a Chinese stir-fry QSR would be a big hit.

I'm surprised Disney hasn't gone with a Hollywood-themed hotel yet; there's so much opportunity to be explored there. DHS is currently the only park without an associated hotel, and Hollywood is well-known for its palace-like hotels (the Hollywood Roosevelt, the Chateau Marmont, the Hollywood Tower, etc.). Even other Disney resorts without studio-themed parks have Hollywood-themed hotels, such as Tokyo's Ambassador Hotel and Hong Kong's Hollywood Hotel.

If I had it my way, I would have a lavish art deco or chateau-themed deluxe resort within walking distance from Hollywood Studios, positioned as Disney's new luxury resort (instead of selling off land to Four Seasons), with a few Beverly Hills-themed bungalows since Disney loves those so much these days. Then have a slightly farther, more lightly-themed streamline moderne moderate hotel (like the one in Hong Kong) perhaps a boat ride away as a moderate option.

I've thought this as well. It's interesting how many of Disney's resorts are themed after places so many of their guests likely come from, particularly the New York area (Boardwalk, Yacht & Beach Clubs, Saratoga Springs).... isn't one of WDW's main audiences New England? Not that I don't love Boardwalk or Beach Club, but more exotic resorts would be more interesting.

rather than ground level bugalows, would be cool to do rooftop penthouse type bungalows that would save land on the ground level aand could give a view into DHS to the chineese theatre if built on the current dhs bus loop area which would allow a connection to the boat system

I'd like a Liberty Square theme (at least based off your options). I feel it's such an underrated part of Magic Kingdom and a whole resort in that theme would look fantastic (granted, I am a big fan of the architecture and style of that era, so I'm a little biased). I also think it would be very pleasing since it won't be anything crazy, like a sci-fi theme, which could be cool (big sci-fi fan here) but there's a chance it could have a novelty/wow factor that would wear quickly. Also, make it close to Magic Kingdom, and if possible at least boat access from there to MK.

...And since The Force Awakens has blown all box office records for opening weekend (I saw it three times in a row - yes I spent 11 hours in my local AMC) and looks to be the top grossing movie of all time, why not jump on that SW bandwagon with a SW resort as part of the SW expansion in DHS.

YES! This as soon as possible, please! :geek:
A Star Wars themed resort is the next logical step for Disney. It should be a deluxe resort, feature quick transportation to DHS and include a properly themed restaurant & cantina. An especially a nice touch would be to feature some original props from the films on display throughout the hotel property.

I'm thinking a little more out-of-the-box...why not an underwater resort?

http://www.poseidonresorts.com/

It's one 'theme' that really doesn't exist pretty much anywhere else and would be a huge draw in itself for people to come stay on-property.

Plus, they could utilize some of that cool DCL technology or Seas with Nemo & Friends and have characters swim by your window or interact with you, utilizing all of that new fancy Magic Band technology.

Yeah....it would cost. But it would be COOL...and would not have a huge sightline impact like others might.

To be fair we have the All Star Movies :p Maybe they're planning on adding a hotel once the park overhaul is done. I would really love to stay next to that park. Also they could make is as a backdrop for a land like if echo lake is converted into a 1950'a street with shopping and more restaraunts the backdrop could be of a 1950's hotel it could be like 10 stories, because Star Wars seems to be going where Streets of America is.
