We are planning to do the Blue Lagoon Island excursion in Nassau in January, what type of ID is required to get back on the ship? I have heard a lot of stories about pick-pockets and muggings so I'm a little paranoid and I want to take as little with us as possible. Do you just need your cruise ID card or will we have to take passports/birth certificates? Thanks!

You need your cruise id to leave and return to the boat

Adults will also need a government issued photo ID. No birth certificates. Passport, drivers license, or military ID would all work.

What would happen if you got mugged while on land and lost your ID. Would you be left stranded at the port?

No, I'm sure you would not. I'm very sure people have lost their ID on shore and Disney worked something out when they got back onboard. Now that they associate photos with your Key to the World cards, it's a lot easier to prove you are who you say you are. But I believe if you didn't have another form of ID waiting for you onboard, you'd have a problem when you disembark and go through customs at the end of your cruise.

Did Nassau on the Disney Magic in early August. It was hit or miss getting back on board, as they checked every few groups or so for their photo id's (i.e. drivers license). Our family was not asked for photo id's, but those right behind us were asked.

I put my cruise KTTW card and my driver's license in my lanyard and that's all I ever needed.

I like to carry around my ID hoping someone will humor me and card me. I know...I know...grasping at the ever shrinking threads of an imagined youth but every now and then it happens....

...which makes me squeal like a school girl then cry tears of joy...

We were at a winery over the weekend doing a tasting. They didn't card us, but they did the couple next to us. My wife says "man, I feel old".

She was all happy when they carded her in the ShopRite, before she noticed the signs that say they card everyone, and they asked the 70 year old woman behind us for ID as well.

I'm with your wife. Most times I feel ancient. But eeeevery once in while someone will ask...I intentionally ignore the signs about carding everyone & run from the store before I see them card an elderly patron. I've professed my love and undying loyalty to some of these clerks who carded me. I must be the epitome of sad & pathetic! LOL!
