Iced Coffee at the World

I am a coffee/caffeine addict, and I am trying to figure out all the good places in WDW to hit up for iced coffee, because I don't know how anyone can drink the hot stuff on those 90 degree days. I like the lattes at the MS Bakery, the iced coffee at Starring Rolls, and those frappy beverages at AK, but do you guys know of any other good places? I've heard great things about the Kona Cafe coffee, for instance, but can you get those iced? And do you know if SSR will be able to sell me some good stuff? (gah, I sound like an addict!)

You can get iced coffee pretty much everywhere but you may get a couple of funny looks not everyone will know what you are talking about. Funny story: At Spoodles my husband ordered an ice coffee and was brought a ice coffee slushy thing, we had to explain how to make it.:):)

Good luck. You can find iced coffee at stands all over, but you won't find much that tastes good. I never have. The coffee places also seem to be run by a third party outfit and not actual CM's, so the attitude is usually on par with your typical airport barista. My most recent experience was in 2004 so hopefully things have improved since.

Fellow coffee snob here....By far the best coffee on property is served only at the Kona Cafe and is called the 100% Kona press pot. This is served hot but you can get a cup of ice to ice it yourself. There is a coffee bar just outside the Kona cafe which serves a 10% Kona blend coffee which is not as good as the 100% Kona but still better than anything else on property.

Mmm... I think I'll do that. I've heard so much about this coffee that I can't wait to try it!

As a Northerner I have to warn you that finding good Iced Coffee in Florida is not that easy. Things have improved somewhat since we first started going there in the 80's, but suffice it to say that good iced coffee in FL is about as rare as good Sweet Tea in the North!

Yikes, sounds delicious though
It is. The worst thing for my Kona addiction is I drive past a place every morning called Bad A$$ coffee company that sells it. I think I spend more money there per month on coffee then I do on my gym membership.

Ha-ha! I used to live in the South and was told that the secret to a great gallon of sweet tea was to start with a cup of sugar and then add more to taste from there!

There are definitely different levels to sweet tea here in the south. You have sweet tea which is basically tea with sugar added to it then there is country sweet tea which would send the average person into a diabetic coma.

Coffee is one of my biggest challenges while at Disney, too. I'm a member of the coffee-snob club or so I've been told. I like my coffee iced in warm weather but I'm also particular about how it's prepared. Must have Splenda & non-fat milk. In a pinch, make it an iced Cafe Americano. Go to one of the coffee bars (there's one in the Contemporary too) and order a couple shots of espresso. Pour them over ice, water down a tad, sweeten, and add milk. It may have a little bite but it's iced and it's coffee. I usually order iced Cafe Americanos for my kids at SBux because I can get them in decaf. Rarely do they ever keep iced decaf prepared.

I didn't know iced coffee was a northern thing. But now that I think of it, my grampa is the only person in my family full of coffee-drinkers who liked iced coffee and he was born and raised in Michigan. :)

Gotta try the Kona. I don't care what it costs. I gotta try it. It sounds so goooooooood.

My name is Kelly and I'm a coffee-holic. :hammer: :slurp: :ROFLOL:

That is "sweetened tea".

Unsweetened iced tea = brewed tea and thats it, you drink as is , with sugar or sweetener and usually lemon

Sweetened iced tea = brewed tea that has the sugar already added

Sweet tea = that stuff you get down south that is made with brewed tea and a sweet sugar syrup... almost died the first time I tried it. :hurl:

Iced coffee = brewed coffee that you add milk to and then pour over ice to chill. May be sweetened or not.

Its not that stuff you get at Starbuck's or Dunkin' Donuts or any of the million other chains that make lattes and the like. They are considered frozen coffees.

D&D and McDonald's are doing an actual iced coffee down here which is straight brewed coffee and milk poured over ice.

Iced coffee :hurl: ... hot coffee :hurl: ...
I prefer iced tea! :D
No, seriously, I bet you could get any place that serves coffee to add ice or whatever to it if that's how you like it.

You know, that's a GREAT idea. I think, if I get desperate, that's exactly what I'll do. (How is the stuff at the Contemporary, by the way?)

And I looked at the Kona menu, and its prices seem to be in the Starbucks range, so not too bad.

All I remember from my last trip in '04 was that it was difficult to actually 'find' coffee in convenient places. Nescafe' (which is not coffee and is barely consumable :hurl: ) was everywhere. Has that changed? I was the only coffee drinker within a large group and it was easier to do without rather than split up to try to find something decent...non-coffee drinkers just don't get it!
