At least half a dozen years ago and beyond, they used to sell Nestle Tollhouse Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream sandwiches at most of the ice cream stands in the park. During my last couple trips, these were nowhere to be found. Does anyone know why? My family always looked forward to these as an afternoon treat.

You can buy these pretty much anywhere. Don't need to go to Disney World to enjoy them.

Nestlé USA's Baking Division Initiates Voluntary Recall

(SOLON, Ohio) - June 19th, 2009 - Nestlé USA's Baking Division is initiating a voluntary recall of Nestlé® TOLL HOUSE® refrigerated cookie dough products. Nestlé is taking this action out of an abundance of caution after being notified that the Food and Drug Administration, together with the Centers for Disease Control, are conducting an investigation into reported E. coli 0157:H7 illnesses that may be related to consumption of raw cookie dough.

A number of consumers reporting illness reported consuming raw Nestlé TOLL HOUSE refrigerated cookie dough. While the E. coli strain implicated in this investigation has not been detected in our product, the health and safety of our consumers is paramount so we are initiating this voluntary recall. We have been and will continue to cooperate fully with the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control in this investigation. Providing safe, high quality products to our consumers is our number one priority.

No other Nestlé TOLL HOUSE products are impacted, including already baked TOLL HOUSE cookies purchased outside the home, all varieties of Nestlé TOLL HOUSE morsels, chocolate baking bars, or cocoa, and Dreyer's and Edy's ice cream products with Nestlé TOLL HOUSE cookie dough ingredients.

We want to strongly advise consumers that raw cookie dough should not be eaten. This message also appears prominently on our packaging.

Consumers who have purchased these products should not consume them. Instead, we are asking that consumers return these products to their local grocer for a full refund. We invite consumers with questions to contact Nestlé Consumer Services at 1-800-559-5025 and visit our web site at www.verybestbaking.com.

The products involved in the voluntary recall include all varieties of Nestlé TOLL HOUSE refrigerated Cookie Bar Dough, Cookie Dough Tub; Cookie Dough Tube; Limited Edition Cookie Dough items; Seasonal Cookie Dough and Ultimates Cookie Bar Dough. Variety information is included in the list below.

They seemed to disappear once Disney began their efforts to eliminate trans fats in foods sold in the parks. They have in recent times been spotted at Fort Wilderness, but not in the parks.

What a letdown. Every vacation should have trans fat.

I know you can get them at just about any convenience store, but I grew up associating that with Disney World.

Nah, Chipwich is slightly different and not nearly as good. The chocolate chip cookies on the Nestle Tollhouse version are so much better.

You can still get them fresh made at the Sleepy Hollow in MK across the Liberty Square bridge, but beware they are big. Last time I got 2 (one for me and one for my daughter) and we could have easily split one. Yummy!

I agree that you should go with the homemade version at sleep hollow or the main street bakery. They are much better than any commerical made one.

I LOVE those Toll House ice cream sandwiches! ;)

I can't remember exactly when the carts in the parks stopped selling them, but I think it was around 2007 or 2008.

I used to buy 2, 3, sometimes even 4 of those a day on a typical full open-to-close day at the parks! Since nothing else at the ice cream carts has the repeat appeal for me that those did, I now buy almost no ice cream from the carts on a regular basis.

I've been told by a few ice cream cart CMs that people still ask about the Toll House sandwiches, and that they were one of their most popular items when they sold them. I've also been told two different reasons for why they were removed. One person told me the contract to sell them in the parks ended, but most others said it was because they were too many calories. Considering I have an EXTREMELY high metabolism and weigh less that the average BMI (Body Mass Index) for my height, my Toll House ice cream sandwich "habit" in the parks was not hurting me any. If anything, I need the calories since I tend to lose weight after several days walking the parks!

But hey, if calories were the reason they pulled such a popular item from the carts and they don't want my money, that's their perogative, I guess!

I LOVED these! I usually had two of these a day most days I was at the parks. Last time I got them in the parks was May 2006, then my next trip wasn't until February 2008 (Honeymoon!) and they were gone!! :( Yes, I was told because they had trans fats. I was so sad. I know you could them at gas stations across America, but to me they were always a special Disney World treat. But I do remember those things had like 500 calories!. Now my new fav is the mickey mouse cookies & cream ice cream sandwiches. :slurp: I will definitely have to try the fresh version you guys were talking about next time I go!
