Trip Report Ice cream, BTMRR challenge and a Magical time .....Completed

Hi and welcome.

I’ve been home from our trip a week now and the cold, wet UK weather is depressing me so I’m going to get this TR started.

For those of you who have joined me before you’ll know I’m a bit mad on Disney - like everyone here I know but I literally just can’t get enough and really absorb every second of my time in the world. I also insist on ice cream every day when on holiday so expect ice cream photos along the way.

So the details.....

Myself and my husband Chris

This was our 23rd visit to the world with all stays being 14 days or more with the exception of our special bonus March trip this year. It had been 229 days since I stepped out of the world and I was so ready to go back.

We left on the UK on 7th November and were scheduled to leave America on 21st November - (more on that Later as there were a few bumps along the way)

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside (home) - all trips to Disney except my extra March trip have been here. I love Riverside, it’s just so peaceful after hectic days in the park and it had been a whole year since I had been here.

Isn’t it beautiful?

And as for the rest of the TR title those of you who follow @Tuvalu TR’s will know she tags me in the BTMRR pictures. We both have a love for the ride and I curiously asked her how many times in a year she thinks she rides. So we’ve been counting and having a friendly challenge even though I thought I would never stand a change of winning it’s going to be fun to see how it turns out.

I managed to get an additional trip in this year during March and ended that trip on 7 rides (so maybe there was hope for me to win). @Tuvalu is there now though and is currently on 18 rides for the year........ So how many did I end up at?

So let’s get this started.......

No photos will ever do Pandora justice....

We decided before leaving the park to head to EE again for a quick ride.

We had finished in AK this morning - in truth we’d only gone to use our FP’s - we were on our way straight to Epcot

But we stopped at McDonalds on the way for a milkshake.
They don’t make them th same in the Uk or maybe it’s just the cream on the top but we fancied one and we were going to get one.

So onto Epcot.
As we arrived it looked quieter - I do look at the touring plans numbers and with those along with a few other sites I pick where I think it will be quieter.
Epcot was the pick for today and it looked to be pretty accurate.

We checked what FP was available and a Test track one came up for a couple of hours time - we took it - for this holiday we had only book Epcot FP for 1 of our 14 days so we didn’t have a TT one.

We were going to try to get as much done as we could so off to Figment we went, then to the Pixar short films and then LWTL

I don’t think i’ve Ever realised we go through the barn here.

We then headed towards the countries for dinner and a stroll along the way.

First stop Mexico - It was lovely and quiet in here and you could actually walk around freely.

We obviously jumped on here

We continued onto China - where Chris got something to eat.

B444942D-3BCE-4625-B8B4-56316FAD34B4.jpeg

I got my dinner on the way round too and we also got our popcorn bucket filled with maple popcorn - that is some nice popcorn.

Epcot appears to get quieter as the night went on. It was really pleasant.

After our mile (and a bit) stroll around WS it was time for our TT FP - not sure what we thought this looked

We then wandered around Mouse gear

I saw this purse which would have been very appropriate for me but you couldn’t get much in it!

We headed to Mission space then to Soarin with another FP we made after we got of TT

At 6.18pm the queue was showing 15 mins but in reality it was the same as the FP queue...

We then headed to Nemo and enjoyed the aquariums - I found my turtle friend

Having worn really flat shoes all day as it was forecast rain (but it never came my feet were dead)

So we finished the night on Spaceship earth and headed back to our room to chill and go to bed.

we had decided last night that we needed to have a run this morning - I started running again this year just to help with feeling better and losing some weight - when I say run I go out 3 times a week but normally only do a few miles and stay put about half hour but that helped me lose a stone this year and I feel so much better about myself.

We headed out and had a lovely run around the lake - we were only gone around 15 mins but it was a good way to brush off the cobwebs and help us not feel guilty about ice cream (not that we were anyway)

It was definitely colder out today than it had been - the cold front was coming. It was still around 73 degrees so we were still happy it was a bit chilly first thing but it turned out to be a nice day.

We showered and quickly made our way out to the bus stop to head to MK.

We headed straight to buzz then Chris went on space mountain Then we headed to the tea cups, HM, and then the carousel

Then we headed to cosmic rays for lunch - and pretty much sat all alone.

After lunch we headed to BTMRR, we were obviously happy to be riding again..

I really don’t know what Chris was doing! Maybe pointing to the drop laughing as I still had the camera out?

Then we headed to HM, under the sea, 7DMT, and then TTA and then

Ice cream!

We both decided part way through we shouldn’t have had 1 each - we were actually struggling to finish them.

I present to you the left overs - sorry but I just couldn’t finish it all. I blame the chocolate brownie - it was huge.....

We had lost the heat of the sunshine and I didn’t want my cold to come back so I suggested to Chris going shopping to the outlet shops on Vineland. I wasn’t too bothered about shopping but I knew he wanted to look and I would rather he did when the weather wasn’t warm so I didn’t feel like I was missing out. Also my cold had gone and I was starting to get cold and I didn’t want it to come back.

We had a pretty successful trip I bought some new trainers as the ones I had bought with me had caused me some issues.

I also managed to get a jimmy cricket ornament that i had seen before and had considered buying for $54.99 which I purchased for $14.99 in the Disney outlet - there were only 3 of them left.

With a few more clothes for us both we headed back to the resort for something to eat and were back in room tucked up in bed by 9pm.

Well what a difference a few days make. We hadn’t hurried this morning as we knew it was going to be colder but 53 degrees!

Where was the sun and heat we’d been spoilt with during the start of the holiday?

It did warm slightly during the day but not much!

We arrived in AK just after 9.40am - we took our time and hit FP no 1 the safari -

I have to admit when I looked at them I nearly deleted them thinking I had missed them.

I had hoped for more activity given how cold it was but I think a lot of the animals had stayed inside.

We started to head over to EE for FP number 2

Now even though it was colder than the weather we had been spoilt with, not a day can go by without ice cream. The sun was shining so decided it was now or never today

We took our ice creams to the River of light seating area and sat in the sun (with our fleeces on).
It was actually quite warm with no wind blowing and the sun beating down but it wasn’t t shirt weather for us!

We took a little stroll and then stopped at the flame tree BBQ for a quick bite to eat before heading to our next FP.

Obviously we would be riding FOP again so off we went.

While in the queue for FOP Chris managed to get a TOT FP starting in 10 mins so as soon as we exited FOP we made our way out of the park to HS.

Chris decided he didn’t want to go round again so we went and got another ice cream! Yes it was a cold day and we were trying to rack them up - but I didn’t take a picture :( it was an apple crisp so it did have warm apple on it.

We watched the citizens as we ate it. We took a wander around TSL and then walked through one mans dream.

And then again despite the cold we shared a frozen coke (complete with hidden Mickey)

DB717C0B-446B-4900-A136-9B2B46A94C81.jpeg

We got a FP for the frozen sing along for 5.15pm. I had never seen this before as I thought it would be just too much for Chris but I had seen so many comments about equity Ben and the show generally we went to take a look!

As we entered the queue Chris searched for another FP and surprised me by saying he had booked a FEA for 7.05pm (great work Chris)

We weren’t disappointed by the show. Equity Ben wasn’t working but it was a good funny show and I think the lady working was fab.

I love this ride - it just makes me feel good and I am afraid I am one of those annoying people who sings!
I was a little surprised when Chris said he had got this FP as you know how he feels about getting wet but thankfully it was me who got wet not him so all was good and he was happy - and so was I!

We headed round WS and stopped at the American Adventure to see the show.

Several years ago we did the backstage magic tour - we were taken behind the scenes to see how this ride works on that tour so we always make sure to check it out once on each visit to just bring those memories back.

We exited with not long to go before the fireworks.

This was the day we left for home :( We went on the boat from FQ to Disney Springs and it was cold by the time we got back - in fact we changed into travelling clothes rather than do so at the airport. It was the coldest it had been for the 3 weeks were we at WDW.
Love the Jiminy ornament.

I have to admit I cried during these fireworks - I don’t know why etc it just happened. I was so in the moment and I think was sad at the thought I might not get to see this again as I think at some point next year it’s being upgraded.

We took a really slow walk out of the park, strolling around to the exit

We were back at the room by 9.55pm & asleep by 11.15pm.

Despite it being colder we’d made the most of it and completed 3 parks in 1 day

We were ready for another day at Disney tomorrow.....

It was cold but thankfully it warmed up again but it was a cold couple of days that weekend.

Been following along and enjoying your photos and commentary. One thing that stood out to me was the relatively empty seating at Cosmic Rays -- never seen that before, from any of the times I've been there, down through the years! You were very lucky.

Really enjoyed your nighttime photos of the Japan pavilion area and the fireworks --nicely done. :)
