Trip Report Ice cream, BTMRR challenge and a Magical time .....Completed

Hi and welcome.

I’ve been home from our trip a week now and the cold, wet UK weather is depressing me so I’m going to get this TR started.

For those of you who have joined me before you’ll know I’m a bit mad on Disney - like everyone here I know but I literally just can’t get enough and really absorb every second of my time in the world. I also insist on ice cream every day when on holiday so expect ice cream photos along the way.

So the details.....

Myself and my husband Chris

This was our 23rd visit to the world with all stays being 14 days or more with the exception of our special bonus March trip this year. It had been 229 days since I stepped out of the world and I was so ready to go back.

We left on the UK on 7th November and were scheduled to leave America on 21st November - (more on that Later as there were a few bumps along the way)

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside (home) - all trips to Disney except my extra March trip have been here. I love Riverside, it’s just so peaceful after hectic days in the park and it had been a whole year since I had been here.

Isn’t it beautiful?

And as for the rest of the TR title those of you who follow @Tuvalu TR’s will know she tags me in the BTMRR pictures. We both have a love for the ride and I curiously asked her how many times in a year she thinks she rides. So we’ve been counting and having a friendly challenge even though I thought I would never stand a change of winning it’s going to be fun to see how it turns out.

I managed to get an additional trip in this year during March and ended that trip on 7 rides (so maybe there was hope for me to win). @Tuvalu is there now though and is currently on 18 rides for the year........ So how many did I end up at?

So let’s get this started.......

Oh how exciting!! When in August? We'll be be at Disney until August...3rd or 4th? And then we have a few days in Orlando to hang before going to Universal Orlando for 4 days. If our trips overlap, maybe we could grab a drink somewhere.

We are headed Over on 19th Aug for 13 days so Looks like we’ll miss you :(
Have you done Aug before?
Curious as to how it might be...

I remember it as Dixie Landings - our first ever trip we stayed at Carribean Beach and had to get to DL to get transport for a trip! We had a wander around the area on our return from the trip and thought we'd love to stay there at some point. By the time we did the name had changed.:)

I still don’t know why they changed the name?! It makes no sense to me.

Political correctness. Some believe that “Dixie” has racial undertones.

Ah.... Thanks for confirming.

I would never have thought that but I probably wouldn’t. But then Again the world has gone a bit mad! Children can’t play conquers in playgrounds, words in nursery rhymes have been changed etc all for fear of comeback etc so nothing surprises me nowadays with what you can and can’t say.

I’ll just continue to live in my little bubble of my ideal world thinking everyone can be nice to each other. It makes me happy......

Im curious to know @Longers how much more intense is EE compared to BTMR I always chicken out of riding but I am sure I read somewhere that the actually drop isn't much different to SM and the speed isn't much faster?

Also what was your opinion of wild arctic the last time we went on it was more than wild felt the thing was going to break down not the ride I remembered from previous years?

BTMRR is more rough whereas EE is faster. EE has a little more intensity and is faster with more drops. BTMRR just kind of jostles you around with lower speeds. BTMRR has a fairly short drops coming out of the lift hills. EE has the backwards section with some speed as it rolls through. However, it has the main drop (as seen from outside) as well as a drop into a helix.

My wife has back issues and cannot do BTMRR. She rode it once and that was enough. She was able to do EE and rode it a few times. I'm not Longers but that is my take. I have no input on Wild Arctic.

I went the end of August in 2012, I think it was. Never again LOL. The first half of the trip wasn't bad because of a hurricane in the Gulf bringing cooler winds and only one night of extremely heavy rain. But after that, the second half of the trip was hot and extremely humid. And I'm used to humidity in the South. This was different - and miserable. The crowds were still heavy, which surprised me because of so many schools were going back.

Like @Skibum1970 said in their very descriptive description.

EE is more intense and the bit where it goes backwards takes your breath away. I would say it is a more intense coaster. I do however regret not riding it years ago as I normally give everything at go at least once.

And we didn’t get on the wild artic ride we just did the walk through so I’m not sure what the ride was like - sorry.

As I thought then!
Fingers crossed we are lucky somewhere along the way - I really want my sister and nephews to have a great time and to feel what I feel when I am there. I just want them to get it!

Tuesday 13th Nov

Today we had FP in HS in the morning so we headed up and out with the intension to get to HS before park opening.

There was a lot of construction going on.

We were let in and followed the crowds to TSL

We Decided to head to Alien Swirling saucers first as we had no FP for this ride

I have to admit I could easily just do this ride once on each trip moving forwards - it didn’t do anything for me.

Maybe I need to ride once more just in case I haven’t given it a chance but my instant thoughts were it was just meh.

We headed straight from this to TSMM which at this point was something like a 20 min queue and we instantly regretted not doing this first as when we got off the ride there was only a 10 min queue to ride Aliens.

Hi, Mr Potato Head

We were just ready to board the ride and it broke down :(

We were taken back to the alternative track and had to wait around another 10 mins to board from there.

We finally made it on and I won!

See I knew Chris’s win the other day was a fluke.

I think they had issues most of the day on this ride as when we returned later they were only letting on FP - no standby!

RNRC was next

And before we knew it we were off.

We really enjoyed this though....
Chris wasn’t too keen on riding originally but he admitted it was better than he expected too.

Got this picture as we headed out of TSL for lunch.

We had a quick lunch and then left the park.

You might remember earlier in this TR Chris had tried to book a game of golf. Well he managed to book for this day in the afternoon so I was going it alone and he was going golf.

Chris was playing The Palm course near MK so we drove straight from HS towards the MK.

We said our goodbyes and Chris dropped me at the ticket centre and he went off for his golf game.

Now what to do in the Magic Kingdom?

Yes, we were there at the end of July/beginning of August in 2016. Towards the middle of August, it got less busy because all the locals went back to school. It was unbelievably hot though!! Your love of ice cream will serve you well. I wanted to go more at the end of August in 2019, but we're traveling with family and there are a couple of teachers in the group who have to get back in time for school to start, so we are going at the end of July instead. Too bad we'll miss you!

I am worried my ice cream will melt before I can eat it! That could turn out to be a challenge all by itself :D

Chris dropped me at the ticket centre and I made my way to the monorail for my trip over to the MK

It always ceases to amaze me how in their own little worlds people are as they pay no attention to the fact that if they were to walk a little faster we might make the monorail that’s currently in the station!

As the family in front of me moved at the top of the ramp I did my little fast walk and made it onto the monorail (one of the last to get on)

I know we’re all on vacation but I’d rather queue in a Park rather than for a monorail

Off we go...... (alone!)

I must be honest on arriving I as think really sure what I wants to do so I headed “under the sea” .......

Immediately at the end of this ride I missed Chris.

For those of you familiar with my TR’s you’ll know that at the end when they sing “kiss the girl” me and Chris sing but he wasn’t there :(

I headed to HM next

22E1B9AE-E49D-486D-A71F-8AF322185715.jpeg

And then I headed towards BTMRR - I wasn’t sure whether to ride without Chris but was going to catch the parade first and then decide.

I watch by splash mountain behind the crowds.
I just sang away to myself grinning from ear to ear.

There it goes.....

Just as I knew the last float would be coming through I headed towards BTMRR

But the queue was advertised at something like 40 mins - splash 20 mins - so splash had won (because of the queue time and the fact Chris wasn’t with me)

B0212873-55AC-46AD-8F49-828CDDA12F59.jpeg

Remember he doesn’t like to get wet so that kind of stops the amount of times we ride but without him I could just enjoy it without worrying about him.

I headed through the queue and arrived at the loading bay and was put on straight away - that was no 20 min queue.

And look where I got put!
Right at the very front...... Chris would have hated that

I really enjoyed my ride, It was so much fun, singing, and not caring about whether I got wet or not

Did I get wet?
Of course I did!

But did I care?
No I didn’t....

Suitably wet I needed somewhere to dry off so what better idea than to have an ice cream while doing so.

I headed back to try this one I’d had my eye on....

This ice cream was very refreshing as it was pretty hot out.

Being so near to Winnie the Pooh I paid him a visit and was put in a honey pot with another single lady doing the park alone.

Next to cool down I headed to Mickey’s Philharmagic

Again I missed Chris as there was no one to - look left and right and say “not yet”

I did a bit of walking after this to just take it all in and appreciate how lucky I was to be there

I had managed to get a FP to meet Mickey so I headed over there next - sill looking a bit wet from my ride on Splash.

I miss the fact that he no longer talks....

After my visit to Mickey I headed back to the room on the bus. We had estimated Chris would be back around 6pm so we were both aiming for that time.

A bus was already at the bus stop as I arrived so I was back at the resort just flyer 5.30pm.

I strolled through the trees in the peacefulness with a warm feeling in my heart. I love everything about Disney and was so happy. I decided to head back to the room to get my mug to head to the food court for a drink but as I arrived near to the car park I could see our car - Chris was back.

I opened the door and he was!
He had a fast game and said he had been back around 10 mins.

He had a quick shower and within around 15 mins we were ready to head out again - well there’s no time to waste in Disney........

We chatted in the car on the way to Epcot about our day.

I told Chris I had missed him on Ariel and philharmagic. That made him chuckle... it’s the little things....

I was hungry so we headed to the UK pavilion for fish and chips

And then we headed to Morocco for Chris

It’s funny how after years of going on this ride you still notice new things.
Maybe people were quieter today but this man below doing the sculpture chips away - and we heard some the sound of the rubble falling. Neat little touch....

We decided to do another lap of world showcase but first a selfie in front of the Xmas tree.

The queue was ridiculous here for the FP photographer.....

Had to borrow Chris’ cap as my hair still had evidence of Splash.

We started our walk around World showcase with the intention tonight of walking and stopping to watch the fireworks from different places. And to see how far we could get before it finished.

Wednesday 14th Nov

Today we were headed to AK - we arrived at the park just after 8.30am and the park was opening at 9am.

When we arrived the park was already open and the queue for FOP was already at 60 mins so we decided to go to ride Navi instead (after all we had a FOP FP fo later). Navi was a walk on and for once we had a row all to ourselves and it was a very pleasant ride. (The one thing Chris hates about this ride is the lack of personal space)

We then left Pandora in the hope that the queue at EE would be minimal

It was and we managed to get 2 rides in

I still can’t believe I didn’t go on this ride for years - I love it.

We then headed to it’s tough to be a bug, - we looked at some of the posters while we waited for the show to start.

We wandered slowly taking everything in to our next FP (the safari)

I don’t recall seeing zebra here when we came in March.....
