Trip Report I Was LIVE - creating some new Disney memories

Why heelloooo there (said in the voice of the dinosaur puppet at the video before the Dinosuar ride in Animal Kingdom) -You've all just done the voice haven't you? I know you have. Don't deny it. I know if you didn't, you are now going back to do it!

Anyhow, it's those little things that have kept me going whilst waiting for this trip, which is now almost here, and I'm guessing you are here as you fancied a bit of Disney magic too - well I can't say I blame you I would do exactly the same thing if I were where you are right now.

I absolutely LOVE Disney, i could literally talk about it forever and I mean forever!
I check the Disney news every day and if someone is willing to talk about Disney who am I not to join in.

Prior to this trip I've kept myself amused making window decorations and a countdown and reading @Tuvalu & @Doc Disney trip reports which as you know come quite frequently. I've also passed the last year watching Jo & Ashley SRYS on you tube until they announced no more videos for a while which literally crushed my Wednesday and Sunday's. :(
I met them last year but they now have a family to plan for so I fully understand - but these days of the week just aren't the same anymore.

So who am I?
I'm Tracey, As I've already said Disney obsessed, want to live in Cinderella castle (who wouldn't? - why won't they let me? ) etc etc.
Myself and my husband Chris are off to Disney for 14 days from tomorrow - yes tomorrow - flying from the UK and arriving around 5pm
This will be our 20th, 2 week plus holiday here (once in 1996 and then every year since 1998) we rack up 297 days in POR during this trip. As those of you who have read my previous reports will know I absolutely LOVE this resort and will get to a whole year of my life here.
It's my 2nd home, as soon as I arrive I beam with happiness and normally cry at actually being there, not just looking at those pictures on my iPad.

Here I am in 2015 - this is one of my favourite photos from last year.

This year my brother Mark and his wife Claire join us. They were meant to join us last year but it had to be postponed but this year we will all be together.
It's their first year staying in a Disney resort so I hope they love Riverside as much as me. My brother has been to Disney 4 times before & his wife 3 times but they have never stayed in Disney. They are in for a real treat!

My brother and I get on so well together so I think this will be another holiday packed full of great memories.

So what else is planned?
Lots of ice cream - those of you have read my reports before will know that I have to have an ice cream a day when on holiday - more if I can :)
We have a keys to the Kingdom tour booked. Myself and Chris did this in 2013 but have booked again so Mark & Claire can do it too
And I have a meet up with Nicole, @prfctlyximprct Megan @Doc Disney planned. Well we were all there the same time so we couldn't miss the opportunity to meet so have formally planned it so we didn't miss each other. (@LisaBelle we will miss you - I take it the lottery numbers didn't come up)

Tonight we are headed to the airport to stay overnight before our flight at 11.40am tomorrow,
I just couldn't imagine getting in the car on Friday morning, getting caught in a traffic jam and missing my flight - that would be unbearable and something I simply won't let happen, so a hotel room for tonight it is.
We'll meet my brother and sister in law at the hotel and we will probably have a drink in the pub before going to bed.

So for the time being I will get back to packing the final bits and will update in the morning if I can get wi fi at the hotel/airport or you'll get an update when I get home to POR.

BTW I am having problems uploading any photos so this could all go horribly wrong (had internet problems here for days now) - but I'll hopefully be able to get that sorted in Disney - if not this will be the shortest trip report in history!

OMG the countdown that started at 350 odd days is nearly at 1 - I am nearly home in my Disney bubble.

Eeekkkkkk.

Of course I'm in! Sadly the lottery was not meant to be . I literally got tears in my eyes as I began to read your TR. I am soooo excited for your meet up with Nicole & Megan! Hope your brother and sister in law love Riverside! It is so much fun to watch others enjoy the "staying on Disney property for the first time". Here's to a safe trip filled with as much Disney magic as you can pack in :joyfull:. I'm looking forward to reading about all the ice cream!

It's hard work trying to sleep the day before you fly to Disney - I was awake at 4am and just couldn't get back to sleep.

I set the alarm to play Shakira from Zootopia (as I couldn't download the music for Magic Kingdom opening) and thought that one was quite upbeat.
As soon as the music started I was singing, even though I can't sing.
I jumped out of bed and did a little dance and then felt very emotional.

The day is finally here. I will soon be home. I am beyond excited and very emotional, (I am not an emotional person I can go all year with no tears but in Disney - well that's a different story)

At 7.15 my brother and sister in law arrived at our room to go and get our grab and go breakfast, bacon sandwich or egg sandwich and a coffee - Chris and my brother split mine - I can't eat yet I have butterflies in my stomach.

I am ready to go........ And I think everyone in the airport knows where I am going

Guess what? We're here! But first of all the rest of the updates from today.

All Virgin planes have names - myself and Chris had been trying to guess what plane it might be today We got to the boarding gate and we were on Tinker Belle (think they might have to spell that way to keep separate from Disney?) isn't that the most perfect name for a plane to take us to Disney? :)

image.jpeg

Boarding started at 11am so we were hopeful of taking off on time at 11.40 - that was not meant to be ;(
apparently some paperwork had been left in the terminal and had to be retrieved before the flight could leave.

Don't they know I am desperate to go to Disney? Their delay eats into the time I get to spend in the most magical place on earth, but even a slight delay couldn't stop me being happy.

Anyhow the flight took off at 12.10pm UK time in light rain (flight time 8 hours 50 mins) - as we descended into the clouds I had to pinch myself - I was finally on the plane and on the way. :)

image.jpeg

Well in over 8 hours you have to amuse yourself. Luckily on the virgin planes you all have your own seat back TV with films, games etc so movies it was

First up 3 films, bad moms, Zootopia, then the boss. And then the clock watching started, travelling always seems to take so long to get you there.

And I obviously did a bit of note taking to update this trip report quickly when I do get wi fi as I can just copy and paste from my notes.

Quick bite for lunch - I never eat plane food - just don't like it so it was all shared out

Picture with 2 hours of the flight to go - nearly there.

So just as we were coming into land the captain announced "so we're about 30 minutes from landing at Gatwick airport" - everyone laughed but he quickly realised his mistake and corrected it to Orlando - thank goodness for that - I didn't want to spend all that time on a plane to end up where we started that's for sure.

We landed just after 5pm and made it off the plane quickly which meant we were through customs quickly too - the bags, however were not that quick!

So we finally made it out of the airport at 6.45pm (which included collecting our hire car)

We decided to stop at Walmart on the way in for water, breakfast and snacks.

Food collected we were on the way to "The sign" but it was now dark and the lights were not on - so whilst that pixie dust falls it wasn't as magical. :(
Are Disney trying to save money but keeping the lights off?

We checked in - result room next to each other as requested.

We were all hungry so we popped to get our mugs and a dinner to share and then back to the room to unpack and sleep.

It's now 9.20pm in Orlando so 1.21am in the UK - I have been awake since 4am and now I am knackered.

I am just going to decorate my room window and then I am going to sleep.

I am finally here and the real fun and holiday starts in the morning :D

More updates tomorrow as we are heading to Animal Kingdom in the morning and a quick stop in Hollywood Studios in the afternoon.

Good Night

It's 4am and I can't sleep.

I woke up at 2am too and kept my eyes closed wondering if everything was a dream. You know when you've waited so long for something and then you wonder if you had imagined it - but when I opened them I was in Riverside.....

It's funny how it seems so long but at the same time like only yesterday I was here. I remember all the details of specific days.

Saying that as soon as I arrive my brain is capturing all those memories to cherish to get me through another year.

I have s feeling I am going to be ready to hit Animal Kingdom quite early today :)
