I think I have to cancel my trip

Well, I had a trip planned for October over fall break since it's the only time I'm available to go and our wedding APs expire in December. But DH and I just booked a Disney cruise in January for our anniversary and he's strongly encouraging me to cancel my October trip to save for the cruise (he won't flat out tell me to do it). We're DVC members and have the APs so I'll only have to pay for food and driving down, but I'm seriously considering canceling anyway. I know he feels like we're always in Florida and he's getting burned out. :( The biggest downside is I'll have to rent out my DVC points because they'll expire at the end of May '14. Poo. I know there's nothing you fine people can do about it, but I thought I'd share my sadness. You're welcome, I suppose... ;)

It might not be a bad idea. Gives your husband some time away to avoid that burnout... You don't want him to become a Disney hater because he is there too much. Maybe you could put some of the money you would have spent on the October trip towards the cruise and then also take some of it and choose to go on a mini-vacation somewhere else in October? That way, he gets the "breather" he needs, gets to try a knew place, and avoids strife in the future of not enjoying WDW because he's so burnout on the mouse. There are many other fun places besides Disney. I know it may seem difficult but for the sake of happiness between you and husband on future trips, it doesn't seem like a bad idea.

That's what I'm hoping for! I do not want to cancel my trip because I know the next time I'll get to Disney World will be next November if I do, but you're right and I don't want him to become a "hater". ;) I'm looking into renting out my points. I am very excited about the cruise though since it'll be our first!

:( Anyway you can compromise? If you can't rent them out, I wouldn't want you to waste them. He is probably a little burnt out after your last vacation. Give him a little time. You still have plenty of time to cancel. Good Luck!!!

The only compromise would be me going by myself, but I know he would feel better about the whole thing if I canceled it. He's the primary (read: only, I'm a full-time student) breadwinner in the the family, so it would probably take some pressure off him if I just said I'd go without the October trip. Even food can add up quickly.

It can. Anyway that can be your Christmas present say instead of getting any gifts. That way you are saving from October on?

I hate to say it but maybe you might have to make this sacrifice:oops:

I know, and I'm prepared to do so, but it still makes me sad. :( I don't want to be selfish by insisting on a WDW trip in October followed by a DCL trip in January! The cruise will be much more special anyway since it'll be to celebrate the one year anniversary of us not killing each other!

Makes me sad for you! I know my DH loves Disney but once a year is enough for him. It is never enough for me!

Cancel! You're doing a LOT of Disney. If he's getting sick of it (and the spending of money on it), cancel.

You'll be on your cruise before you know it and maybe you could work a couple park days in there. :)

Don't turn Disney into something you end up fighting over one day.

You should take my advice. I never use it! :)

Since your room and AP's are covered and your drive is not really too far from NC, I would go. Plan to save money by maybe eating more in the room and less out, or since you have a car you can eat quite inexpensively off property. Bring snacks and water with you into the parks and skip extras like MNSSHP. The only other issue would be if you do not have enough vacation time @ work to go.

I think you could make a trip for under a grand easily if you want too.

I'm going to post the points for rent and if anyone wants them before October, I'll rent them out and if not, I'll go because I'm not wasting them. I've definitely had to cut back on my Disney speak to avoid arguing over it. Although, it's funny. Since I've stopped bringing it up, he's started bringing it up! I think he secretly loves it more than he lets on.

The longer that you're away from Disney.... The more exciting it'll be when you finally go back! Not saying you should cancel it........ But I'd personally rather wait and go with you're spouse then without... :)

I don't know about that... :P

I agree. Like I said, we'll see what happens. I have no qualms with eating in the room or sticking to QS.

If you do cancel, and your points get rented out, you could look at it this way: a bit of extra cash in your pocket to plan your next trip ;).

Out of curiosity, will you be renting out your points yourself or with another website (like Dave's)? We have AP's as well, and they'll expire at the beginning of October, but....we've used up our alloted DVC points for the year...just thinking ahead!

I hope everything works out for the best!

I was planning on doing it myself. I've posted on a different forum that has a space for renting points. I've never done it before, but I figure it can't be that difficult! PM me if you're interested!

Same here. I'm LUCKY to get there once a year. I wouldn't say DH is a lover or a hater but I definitely have to tread lightly in how much I gush about an upcoming trip or how much I "drag" him around the parks. I'd sit tight for awhile and see if he changes his mind but be ready to rent out those points if necessary. These men need a serious pixie dusting....LOL! Good luck and keep us posted.
