I've seen a large number of obviously fake rumors sprinkled in here recently. I thought, why not make a thread to put all the fake rumors? I'll get us started:

!) I heard from my wife's sister's dentist's best friend (who works at Disney) that Disney is going to fill in the Lagoon with cement, and put in a new gated attraction - "Walt's Land o' Cheap Thrills." It will consist solely of inexpensive, huge, unthemed rollercoasters. And cement. The monorail that will now surround this new park will launch out of the Contemporary at 85 miles per hour.

2) Heard this from a guy who said he used to work at Epcot: to increase attendance at Epcot, on Maelstrom, where you stop going backwards (in view of people walking by the attraction), one boat a day will NOT stop, resulting in a spectacular crash over the waterfall. People will line up to see the boat crashes!

3) For a big birthday bash, they're painting Cinderella's castle pink! (Oh, wait, that's too outrageous. It would never happen...)

4.) Since Walt is obviously frozen and placed under pirates of the Carribbean, they will un-freeze him this December and let him walk around to enjoy his own 100 years celebration, and see how bad Eisner and his crew has screwed up his theme parks through the years

Fair enough. Shall I post this sort of thing in "chit chat" from now on? Can we move this thread there? I put it here because, although these are obviously not true rumors, it seemed to fit the category, and also would maybe decrease the number of obviously false rumors threads we see posted here. But I will refrain from posting this sort of thing here from now on.

The monorail is gonna launch out at a HUNDRED eighty-five miles per hour. Sheesh.

Wait a minute...this will be a NEW monorail that shoots out at 185mph??? I thought I heard somewhere that the current monorails can get up to 210mph but they are only allowed to go 40mph :hammer: :lol:

Sorry, I was misunderstood. The old monorail CAN go up to 210 mph. It's just a simple matter of reprogramming it, much like is done with TOT. I can't wait for that launch out of the Contemporary! I'll check with my reliable sources to see if it's at 85 mph or 185 mph.

Hey, I just heard another rumor - they're going to turn each "land" in the Magic Kingdom into a separate gated attraction! Also, park hoppers will be eliminated for Day guests, so they'll have to choose the single land they want to visit each day. I swear, it's true!

Well, Small world is only going to open seasonally at Halloween from now on.

I feel sorry for those who buy a Main Street USA ticket, they can get on the train, but it doesn't go anywhere.

Another news flash! Disney has had such success building Dumbo clones that another one is on the way!

The controls are confusing -you can go from the middle to the right if you board a Republican, and from the middle to the left if you board a Democrat.
