I really wish I hadn't done that?

I'm really fanatical about weather. I look to several sources each day, even when I know that I won't be leaving the house. It's a habit that started years ago. One Summer we planned a two week vacation to WDW, but I decided to mellow out on the whole weather issue because it's always basically the same in August. Not that Summer. It rained torrentially almost every day to the point that the pool area at the All Star in which we were guests was completely under water at nights. We had to take off our shoes and wade through deep waters in order to get to our rooms after having walked in heavy rain storms all day. I couldn't drive away from Kissimmee fast enough in the end.

Trying to do six theme parks (Disney four + Uni and IoA) in six days. And I mean from park opening to close, every day. Plus my sister and I going "theme park commando" (rather successfully I might add) trying to ride as many attractions we could each day. By the time we got to Universal on our fifth day, we were completely exhausted.

Trying to micro-manage the trip to Uni and riding water rides in colder weather because "I won't get to ride it again for a long time!" (Freezing theme park water + bad weather = miserable me)

Staying off site and too many character meals! They take way too much time!

We decided that the character meals and a few none character meals take too much time over the years. We like Coral Reef, but due to is small size it seems like you can wait in that little lobby for hours and hours before your table is called.

Kind of when we saw signs for Daytona Beach and got a map out.

It was 1993 and I was a newbie!

Did you wind up seeing the launch from elsewhere? Daytona Beach, on the beach proper, is a great place to see the shuttle launch. Plus, once the shuttle is gone you can go back to swimming and just wait for the sonic booms.

Cocoa Beach was great for that too. Awesome experience!

Since we are teachers and travel all summer, My wife and I stayed in a tent to cut down costs. It worked perfectly the entire trip until we were packing it up. It POURED the rain so we just threw the tent in the back of the car. When we got in the car our phones started beeping saying there was a tornado warning to get out of the car and seek shelter. We made it to Sams Club and was quickly pushed to the center of the store to be taught the fetal position.

There was no tornado that day but at that moment I really missed a motel room. I actually enjoyed the tent and would to it again but I would definitely have an "escape" plan. The tent is huge and would catch every bit of wind. We only spent 1200 dollars(food, tickets, and all) on a 5 night 4 day trip during MVMCP.

After stupidly breaking every speed limit in a panic to get further south, we were almost at Banana River when the radio said it had been scrubbed. Spent a lot of time in Ron Jon instead...

A few times I've struck up a conversation with somebody in a long queue in the parks and 45 minutes later really, really wish I hadn't .

Mind you in fairness they were probably thinking exactly the same thing about me, but in their case at around the 5 minute mark :(.

1) Using AAA to book our trip one time. :banghead:

2) Planned a full day at DHS with two TS meals. Stuck in that half-day park until the second meal came around. (We loath trying to get back to a park we have ADR's booked.)

That tent is awesome!

FL weather is the only reason I won't consider a tent! Haha! I don't want to get rained on and I have a hard time sleeping through outdoor sounds!

was this the shuttle that was scrubbed with 30 seconds to go? .. if so.. I was on the beach watching the launch the same day.. Mark Lee, from Wisconsin was to go up in the shuttle.. it was either our first or second family Disney trip.. my wife still worked at the local newspaper, and the reporter who covered the article for the paper , literally moved into the the room at the hotel that we just vacated.. it was a 3 room suite with kitchen for $29 a night with a free breakfest..
